How long has it actually been since Shippuden started in the Naruto World?

I thought the shadow clone variant that Naruto picked up from the forbidden scroll was forbidden in that you could spawn hundreds of clones, which would kill a normal person. Throughout Naruto we've very rarely seen anybody use more then 2-3 clones at once. It does seem to have been retconned in some elements though.

Yeah, I'd say somewhere around 1.5 to 2. I forget if it was anime only or if it was in the manga, too, but I think Naruto mentioned how old he was to Kushina. Think Shippuden picked up when he was 14.

He always made a shitton just cause of his unusually large chakra reserves.

The confusion came in when they started abusing clones, especially for training. We know he had a shitton of chakra, but enough to split his chakra by the hundreds, and still have enough to do something like train for the rasenshuriken? That's a little retarded, considering each clone would have anywhere from 1-2% of the originals chakra.

Either they retconned it, or when a clone dies, some of that chakra goes back to naruto. The first one makes more sense though.

I thought they did make clones return chakra when they disappeared? It seems like the clone disappearing combined elements of them (Chakra, experience, etc) to the original, which is why they could do the training.

Maybe not all chakra, but some returns. Look at how he used Sage mode.

It is all. However, since they used chakra before disappearing he's obviously not going to get the full amount back.

One thing I wonder about is how the splitting works. If you make 29 clones all at the same time, each one should have 1/30th of the total chakra amount. But consider this: Say you first make 3 clones, each has 1/4. Then say you have one of the clones make an additional 5 clones. Will everybody have 1/9 the total amount or will it be 3x.25, 5x.05?

I'm trying to figure if stuffing Itachi with another tag is supposed to work, since Mangekrow negated the effects of the previous tag. I would assume a new tag shouldn't make much difference.
