Yet in the end, it still seems that he's pondering what Madara's pondering.I'd say Izuna is the insane one for sure. Seems he was going along with the plan, and went insane over the years to accomplish it.
And someone beat me to finding that panel. I'd overlooked it myself to begin with. I really do like ho Kishi brings these things full circle.
Also, I do like how, even in the wake of Sharinneganshenanigens and DBZ Tailed beasts, Kakashi's still relevant and cool. He's always been one of my favorite characters.

I'd still like to see Kakshi use more elemental jutsu. I hate how he's hampered by poor chakra reserves: I'd love to see him use 5 clones and have each use a large-scale elemental attack. A man that knows all those jutsu, yet can only use like 5 a day... he's like the Tellah of Naruto: a full-repertoire of spells, but only enough mp to use 2 or 3 before burning out (and not enough to use Meteor, ever).

More Zetsu nonsense below
The only thing that makes me a little wary about Izuna being Tobi is the fact that Tobi is, at least, mostly made of Zetsu-y material. In favor of the Izuna theory, this could be just because Izuna is so old and wanted/needed to replace parts of himself over time. I think Deidara's elbow was replaced in a similar way at one point, so that wouldn't really be too strange.
In opposition of the Izuna theory, Tobi could just be a better Zetsu with Sharingan eyes implanted in him. Anything more specific than that would pretty much be a wild guess since we don't know a lot about Zetsu's creation, why Madara died shortly after awakening the Rinnegan, and just how Nagato was given the Rinnegan. I don't want to post my inane theories and no one wants to read them, so I'll stop there.
