I feel like Madara popping out with the 1st's cells is basically the link to how Obito is up and about. Old Man Madara probably finds him, does a bit of fusion for regeneration, and Tobi is born of it. This process probably could've sped up his aging to peak levels, while at the same time giving him access to basically the walking encyclopedia on Sharingan for training purposes. And with Itachi hinting at a genjutsu that could basically perma-brainwash people via the mangekrow, Madara could've employed similar on Tobi to keep him from just returning to Konoha and being like, "Hey guys, I'm alive!"

That's the only way I can make sense of it and will probably be confused if it's something out of left field.

Naruto is usually pretty good about giving explanations to most of the shit that goes on. Some of ya'll dudes are just looking for a reason to be upset while forgetting that the Naruto universe is full of shit that never makes sense at first but eventually comes together hence why it was revealed at the end of the chapter to fill your mind with fuck.

Plus the time period between Kakashi's era to Naruto's era is enough time for someone to train hard enough to become pretty strong given the right motivations for it. Its pretty obvious that Naruto is the Obito of this generation who probably fell into the role he even said himself he could've fell into if he allowed his hatred to fuel his motivations.

Since kakashi has one of Obito's eyes, I'm willing to bet he actually did die and either he was revived or someone is controlling his body. It could've also just been a cover-up the whole time (don't really like this reason though).

The only thing that really needs to be explained is who actually fought the Fourth which I'm willing to bet wasn't Obito. This is Naruto and time travel is possible but id really hate that because its a cop-out explanation. For all we know, Tobi doesn't have to stand for a person, it could stand for an ideal who's role is being played by multiple people spread accross multiple generations starting with the original Madara (maybe). If that's the case, it makes total sense why Tobi wants to influence Sasuke to be the next "Tobi", or atleast make him a pawn that contributes to realizing that specific ideal. This manga is pretty well thought out but its not really that deep. It follows specific, multiple themes and this could be one that hasn't been shown until now which would redeem itself as a plot twist. You can never have good without evil.

The explanation probably won't take a whole chapter unless Tobi is about to die.

wasn't the face already put on the wall before he was the 4th anyway? i'm sure there was a flash back where the 3rd and 4th are talking about his face been on the wall and wasn't sure if he was ready to actually be called hokage, not saying he was hokage for 2 years when tobi attacked but if the 3rd already told him/the masons about it could explain why it was up so early

Don't know why people are freaking out, Kiski always does this. He'll explain wtf is going on next week and every one will be like "Oh shit this is awesome!".

Remember Sasuke v Danzo when we see Itachi and every one is like "OH shit wtf?", then we find out next week that it was just an illusion? This has happened so many times I don't even know what the fuck, so I'm just relaxing and chillin while every one goes "TOLD YOU IT WAS OBITO" for a week, lolz.
