Yeah he's writing Obito into being trapped and doing things against his will (at least originally), incoming power of friendship to make him remember how much he wants to protect old people.

That's why Tobito was a dumb reveal. If it was Izuna and Madara broing it up, it'd be some grumpy old geezers with sharingan shotguns telling kids to get off their lawn. Can't power of friendship a couple of cranky old wind bags. They want to see the world burn.

Tbh I think Izuna would be an even dumber reveal because nobody would honestly give a shit for his motivations since we never had any reason to care for him at all. Atleast with Obito, people can know those feels despite how juvenile those feels are (we are reading a shounen after all).

@DrClout: Obito probably never fully trusted the things that Madara said, but presumably witnessed Rin's death from a distance and just lost it. He probably felt like she was his reason for existing anyway, and without her, it was pointless to do so. He probably figured that he might as well go along with Madara's plans, given that Madara saved his life. If I were him, though, I'd have just Edo Tensei'ed her, and if she gave me any lip, brainwashed her with mangekyou hax and did the naughty for the rest of my life. He's probably a bit "touched" in the head after her death, though, I'd wager.

I have a feeling that he still has his own agenda, but that it falls somewhere in line with Madara's overall plan for the Infinite Tsyukiyomi. Perhaps if the sauce and naruto team up to fight Madara and fail, Kakashi will step in, almost get killed, and Tobi will have his Anakin moment, save Kakashi and die from his wounds, restored as a hero and a good guy.

...or something like that. I was never good at fanfics that weren't of my own creation.

Actually I wouldnt be suprised if Obitos and Madaras plans dont match together at all (considering the end result). Remember when Kabutochimaru showed him the edo-tensei Madara and Obito wasnt very pleased to see that. I guess he didnt even want to revive Madara for some reasons.

He's the brother of a bad ass and almost considered equally powered with said bad ass. What more do you need? Beats a whiny kid bitching about a dead girl that didn't give him the time of day.

And really, giving up your eyes for your brothers goals is pretty much the biggest showing of your personal motivations one can have.

might have been pissed off due to the fact Kabuto fucked up the plan of using the statue he might have used some of the ten tails chakra to bring him back to witness the eye on the moon plan

Madara was supposed to be rivived by Nagato and his rinnegan Eye-Jutsu, but Nagato used it for the village. That plan failed, so why was Obito still pissed that Kabutochimaru used edo-tensei to bring madara back?

This is also the reason Madara gave Nagato his eyes, to be revived later on, when the right time comes.

Since Obito took Nagato (Madaras in this case) eyes back and actually implanted one on himself (the left eye). Why is it still a Rinnegan, when everyones theory is that it needs uzumaki Blood + sharingan to awaken the rinnegan? I is confused ._.

EDIT: nvm most likely due to the fact that Obito has Hachiramas DNA in him too? (considering the flashback). God shit is getting complicated with all those sharin-rinne-wtf ever eye techniques.

Im pretty sure Obito and Madara are on the same page. Obito was pissed when Nagato used his resurrection shit on other people, he's still been collecting the 10 tails and following Madara's plan. Im pretty sure he didnt like Kabuto having Madara's body because it would expose him to the rest of the ninja world. He wanted everyone to believe he was Madara.

This isn't to say they won't power of friendship him into changing his mind now, but I think up until this point, he has not betrayed Madara.

He probably wanted to use Sasuke to revive Madara. He did mention wanting to sync him to the statue and stuff.

Obito has Senju blood in him (explained in this very chapter and suspected by everyone since his fight with the 4th at least). That would explain why the eyes are still rinnegan. Or maybe once they turn rinnegan they are always able to be activated, mixed blood or not.

Nah, it fit great back when Tobi first came out. And he was introduced shortly after the Kakashi gaiden as well. The theory just fell apart with all the timeline problems introduced much later, but Im sure Kishi has some answer we still dont know, hopefully we'll see it within the next 2 chapters or so.

I'm wondering, though, who he gave his eyes to. They never showed us that he had any great confidants or friends or anything, so who could he possibly have given his eyes to? One argument last week was that Tobi would eventually give them to a young Nagato, but based on what we see here (an old madara essentially bound to a magical Hashirama tree and a very-near-death Obito), only one of two things could have happened (thus far):

1) Madara was good friends with (or sharingan-manipulated) Nagato's parents and had them implant his eyes into their child, a non-uchiha, but a Uzumaki descendant who had the potential to awaken the rinnegan.
2) Madara trained the shit out of Obito, who was then able to use his hax eye's pocket dimension to short-warp back in time to give Nagato the eyes... somehow.

I agree with the theory that there is more than one Tobi, indicated in the manga by the long and short hair versions. I can't even speculate on the identity of the second Tobi except that it might be the person Madara gave his eyes to. It doesn't add up to me that he would have given them to Pain because of the timeline, but I may just be forgetting something.

Edit: Just remembered that Madara was revived with the rinnegan and that was considered to be his prime state. If those are the eyes that he gave away, then that can only mean Pain. Timeline still seems messed up though. Also, edo tensei causing multiples of the same exact eye to exist is bullshit. Madara gave his Rinnegan to Pain which was taken by Tobi which Madara now has again by edo tensei hax.
