Went back and read a bit.

Everyone was asking about Madara being a scientist or something and splicing genes and shit? The answer should have been obvious. Madara actually lived until shortly before the 9 tails attack on Konoha. Orochi had already left long before that, and was off experimenting on people for a long time. Shit, he already made a Hashirama clone at this point (or w/e you want to call Yamato).

tl;dr Orochi was the one that helped Madara mix his DNA with hashirama's and get the rinnegan.

Yama is was a baby with spliced dna, Zetsu is a real clone

Can't help but think if Oro had a stash of the 1st's cells around, he would've used them to fix his arms post-3rd fight.

Ohh true, forgot bout his arm. Not that it matters, non mangekyo sharingans apparently suck nowadays.

Also, maybe he could have fixed his arm, but what for? There were so many drawbacks to having the 1st dna in you, plus he wasn't planning on staying in a non uchiha body for long any ways.

Well, his swap post-fight wasn't exactly the smoothest process. Sasuke's arrival being delayed didn't help, either. At the very least, he could've held out longer to get his Uchiha body eventually instead of having to wait however many years before he could do the body swap ritual again.

It seems likely that Oro did help Madara out in some fashion, but one thing that doesn't quite fit is that in the last chapter Madara says he transplanted Hashi's cells into his wounds post-battle and nothing actually happened until right up till when he was almost dead. Doesn't that mean it was pre-Oreo?

Honestly, in naruto everyone's a fucking scientist anyway so it's probably not worth lingering on. If a 12 year old girl can switch peoples eyes round in a dark dirty cave within the space of 10 minutes, then i'll just assume madara has a PhD.

Dunno, Sharingan's pretty suspect. Probably genjutsu'd everyone into passing his dissertation defense.

Madara seems to insinuate he got the firsts cells right after the battle.

Could be that he just got them during the fight, but couldn't really do shit with them on account of he's not a scientist. Fast forward 40 years to right before he dies, Orochimaru meets up with him and actually happens to be a scientist. Takes those cells and makes him his own personal rinnegan.

Thing is, when Madara mentions transplanting the cells into his battle they have a panel showing a relatively young Madara.

Yeah, I'm thinking he tried to use them, but didn't really know wtf he was doing. Orochi was able to tweek his shit till it actually worked like Madara was hoping it would in the first place.
