Well I don't see kakashi going off to train with Jiraiya or Tsunade or anything. Only the kids have, the 3 kids that were kakashi's students all trained with Sannin for 3 years. I would compare Sakura to kakashi, she's the only one without any bloodline just like him, but he has a half-boost.

Itachi also beat Orochimaru years ago with ease, whereas Sasuke states that he only beat him because Oro was weakened.

And now Sasuke is holding his own against Itachi.

Makes perfect sense.

You can't really rule out the possibility that Sasuke actually learned shit while under Orochimaru's hand. I mean, you gotta figure there was a reason why he wanted the body of a Sharingan user, and it's more than possible Sasuke realized the very reason for that desire during his training. Combine that knowledge with who knows what all he'd literally assimilated from him when Orochimaru finally decided to try and take over, and I'm not really surprised Itachi's "old hat" tricks didn't do much.

I personally don't recall Orochimaru getting his hand lopped off (Not that Oro's physical body taking damage really seems to matter much when he can barf up a new form), but if Itachi used Tsukiyomi to give himself the opening, it'd indirectly have Sasuke experiencing it twice. Besides, if Deidara could somehow do Sharingan resistance training, everyone else in the Narutoverse should arguably have the ability outside of it being some kind of weird bloodline limit he may've had, however unlikely.

If anything else, the conceit of genius could be a contributing factor. See Naruto vs Neji for that one.

There's just been too much of a difference for their entire lives. You can't even say Sasuke has had more potential because Itachi was the one graduating early, becoming the youngest ANBU captain, and slaughtering his fucking clan while he was like 10.

It's fucking obvious Sasuke won't win, his character balances on Itachi's being alive. Someone said it earlier in the thread, and it's still true now. God...just because he wasn't totally annihilated by one jutsu everybody is fucking throwing a shit fit. Omg, it's a good battle so far, go cry more. Not necessarily aimed at you Kyre but everybody who is freaking out over a battle that doesn't even really seem started yet.

IIRC, his new goal is to take out the Akatsuki, and some kind of stupid fucking plot twist where he kills Itachi and ends up with the MS would surely help him with that.

I don't think his goal is to take out Akatsuki...he gathered the others just to handle Akatsuki in the case that he couldn't isolate Itachi by himself.

What do you mean reversing the body transfer technique? Did I miss something in that fight? I thought Sasuke just killed him. If he reversed the body transfer wouldn't he have orochimaru's body? I thought he just knew the snake techniques and such because Orochimaru taught that to him.

I'm not sure exactly what is up with who's body is who, but I'm positive he reversed the Body Transfer.

Here he's basically realizing it's his newly acquired 'White Snake's power' that is the cause of his fast Regen.

I think a bit of Oro is in Sasuke's mind or something. Not sure though.

I believe he learned the snake jutsu's from Orochimaru and just obtained passive skills from the mind transfer thingy. I don't think Orochimaru learns the jutsu's of the people he wants to take over, he wants certain people for their passive traits or blood line limits or something that requires a specific body to use that jutsu.

Now this just made me think how Orochimaru got his white snake power.

Wasn't it stated like waaaaay back in the Chuunin Exam that Orochimaru thinks that jutsus = power, so he just wanted the Sharingan so he could copy a ton of different jutsus with little work?

Still can't tell if Itachi took an actual blow in this chapter but god damn he's got some insane reflexes to be attempting to dodge Sasuke's shuriken. The guy can barely fucking see anything right now.

I'm still rooting for Itachi to win though. I can't see him dying just yet. However, I think there's a good chance (before Boyiee comes running in here telling me I should see this coming) that Sasuke will use CS lv2 to survive Ameterasu and everything will be set up for "that jutsu."
