Watching the anime and Naruto is turning all the Zetsu clones into tree's when he is near them. Why hasn't Obito turned into a tree? What a bitch ass way to go out would that be.

You just need to look at it once. A genjutsu doesn't need eye contact the entire time, only to initiate it. But it does raise the question; what if people just don't look up at the moon.

Maybe you dont need eye contact if you're bad-ass enough. Itachi izanami'd Kabuto when his eyes were supposedly blacked out (how did that work again? I will forever hate the outcome of that match) so perhaps the infinite part means you'll be infinitely fucked no matter what you do. For infinity.

Still had to look at his finger though.
That only leaves the possibility that the Moon's Eye Plan Genjutsu is also sound based, but has any of the Uchiha Genjutsus had anything to do with sound?

If I'm remembering right, genjutsu was explained as fudging with someone's chakra to create the various illusions. People with strong enough will can break out or outside sources like severe enough pain (Young Sasuke stabbing himself in the leg against Orochimaru) or having a tailed beast in you NOT ensnared by the genjutsu. Either mainly resulted in a jolt that breaks up the chakra jam. So, on that end, we could probably assume projecting chakra requires neither sight nor sound, but it gets easier to do if people think there's a focal point to avoid. More of a sub-conscious fear of, "If I look into his eyes, I'll be hypnotized!" that creates a self-fulfilling prophecy only more skilled users like Itachi could function without.

As for the moon itself, we don't know what kind of latent chakra it houses due to imprisoning the 10-tails. It may run out after a while of perpetuating the plan, but by that point, if people caught in the genjutsu just freeze in place and become mindless slaves of their own fantasies, they'll also die of thirst and starvation after a while. If it's more like everyone goes on to live normally, just with lost loved ones suddenly being there and nobody ever questioning that, then it has the potential for longer term application. But I get the feeling Madara just wants to kill everyone.

Forgot bout the bijuu waking up the host thing. Totally gonna see the moon eye activated, and the bijuu will wake up naruto and bee who will decide whether to let the world live in an illusionary bliss, or fight and wake every one up for world peace via power of friendship.

I thought Itachi versus Team Save Gaara was explained as Itachi reflecting the Genjutsu off his ring? Like Naruto saw Itachi's reflection on the ring and got haxed.

It was pretty silly, but that's what I remember.

Better than pulling his finger, I guess.

It was just a non sharingan genjutsu lol. He knows more than just eye stuff.

Although sharingan in the ring would have been fucking amazing.
