Still can't tell if Itachi took an actual blow in this chapter but god damn he's got some insane reflexes to be attempting to dodge Sasuke's shuriken. The guy can barely fucking see anything right now.

I'm still rooting for Itachi to win though. I can't see him dying just yet. However, I think there's a good chance (before Boyiee comes running in here telling me I should see this coming) that Sasuke will use CS lv2 to survive Ameterasu and everything will be set up for "that jutsu."

Yeah. He'll probably use the hand-wings to block it or some shit and then counter with "that jutsu" and Itachi will be like "ZOMG NOOOOO"

i doubt he'll attempt to block it, considering the legend behind how hot and how long it burns whatever it touches. it's more likely he'll (try to) dodge it.

Not really an awesome issue in my opinion, but I'm sure Sasuke's CS2 can block some fire. It'll probably surprise Itachi and he'll be like "zomgwtfbbqsauce" or something and then the fight will stretch even more.

So is it safe to assume Orochimaru knew about the Sharingan's ability to live forever, or for an extended period of time? Or did he just want the Sharingan for what it was at face value?

Hmm.

Wasn't it stated like waaaaay back in the Chuunin Exam that Orochimaru thinks that jutsus = power, so he just wanted the Sharingan so he could copy a ton of different jutsus with little work?

It was, but that hardly means he's restricted to that being the only reason he wants the Sharingan. Wouldn't make sense (from a writer's point of view) to reveal that Orochimaru wanted the Sharingan to live forever considering it was such a big plot twist finally revealed in recent chapters.

Not like it makes a difference to ponder over it now, though.

It's sad to see Itachi get hurt and once Sasuke somehow counters Amaretsu next chapter, it seems both of Itachi's eyes will become virtually useless and he'll be too worn out to put up much of a fight.

Not a bad issue, really excited about how large the black fire is. As said before, itachi may be worn out some, but really there isn't too much he can do about the fire to not have sasuke at least worn out drastically. He cant escape it unscathed. The fight is more about who will outlast who, and orochimaru's training probably had sasuke fighting ninja after ninja nonstop so he might have the upperhand stamina wise with CS2 left and already being through the worst of the genjutsu.

Im 100% sure he'll use cursed seal to at least help get out of the fire, but he'll be hurt if anything after just like Itatchi is now... also, we don't know how strong that seal really is, he might have a 3rd or even more levels now due to orochimaru. If you remember the fight with Naruto on the statues, naruto only grew like one tail, so with the writers always trying to keep them about even powerwise, the seal should be around where 3-4 tails are now. So I can see sasuke at least outlasting itatchi in this fight, but im sure there will be some dramatic escape or interruption.

I really hope Amaterasu burns Sasuke to a toast, as you guys are saying though, there's a good chance that Sasuke will somehow survive it barely, and then since Itachi won't be worth a shit anymore, win. It just doesn't make any sense though, Itachi was so badass throughout the series, why would he lose? I hate waiting for next week, the tension is rising and it's driving me nuts.

It'd be pretty broken if Sasuke could achieve Naruto's 4 tails power. Naruto loses control of himself and is just a huge block of chakra at 4 tails. He has little intelligent thought/planning but just purely with chakra/power wore Orochimaru out and had him running constantly. It'd be pretty broken for any non-God-esque ninjas to be able to compete with his power at that moment, planning should be necessary for most ninjas to simply survive against Naruto.

I don't really know what's going to happen now. Kishimoto has shown to actually move forward with story so it makes you think someone is going to die here, we know it's not Sasuke...but a lot of people don't want Itachi gone yet, and Kishi probably knows this, so I wonder if the fight will stop somehow. The only ways out of this fight would be an extra person actually getting involved in the battle (and the Akatsuki spectator would probably stop that person) or another form of dimension travelling and one of the two runs away. You'd think that might be possible considering how Kakashi uses his Mangyekou (basically travel through dimensions without losing limbs and transport yourself somewhere) and it'll be "balanced" by it depleting pretty much all remaining chakra, which means Sasuke could potentially get away with it, although with his use of Manda last fight he might not be capable of that. So maybe that'd be Itachi's last resort? And it would give Itachi a new reason to train and focus on the fight, since he has shown to not be paying attention to Sasuke's growth while Sasuke has been doing everything he can to find the best ways to fight his brother.

Until an actual outcome is shown I think I'm going to withhold my thoughts on what would make me angry, there's a chance that almost any outcome would be acceptable if put together the right way, so I'm just going to wait.

No one said that Sasuke's 'power' has to equal Naruto's 4-tail's power. Sasuke's strength will come in another form than just a pure chakra dump like Naruto's. It's silly to think that Sasuke is limited to the cursed seal v2 we saw earlier, though. I really expect another form of release from Sasuke during this battle.

Just think of what you figured would happen and it's most likely true as far as the outcome goes for Sasuke.
