I've wanted Itachi vs Sasuke over since it first started honestly. I can't stand the whole "Sasuke, enough hatred, kill brother" plot and I've never been a fan much of the Uchiha, except when they were all alive. I liked their mom. She was sweet. =[

i dunno, i would be royally pissed if sasuke escapes another itachi's best ninjutsu without a scratch...sasuke's good but making him to be this best thing since the first ninja is so 2007.

Well since amaterasu can't be dodged it was either, Sasuke dies from it (wasn't going to happen) or he finds a way to minimize his damage taken. You had to have known the second option was going to happen so that shouldn't be a shock. Also, the way he avoided it left him with very little chakra left so he did, in a way, take a big hit from having to find a way to not die from amaterasu. I think that if using those 2 mangekyu (sp) abilities didn't have such a negative toll on the user that Itachi would have the upper hand, and also if he had used amaterasu first instead of the genjitsu he would probably be in better shape than Sasuke.

So at the end of this chapter you have 2 of them with next to no chakra, but itachi is coughing blood and had his arm burned... not exactly an ass kicking by Sasuke the way some are making it seem.

Is that really a fair assessment? Itachi vs Orochimaru was hardly a fight at all when all that happened was Orochimaru looked at him, got paralyzed, and then had his hand got chopped off. Despite Orochimaru's skillset, if someone is able to paralyze him so easily, it'd be an easy victory. The sharingan with a skilled genjutsu user such as Itachi gives a large advantage over 'normal' ninja since opponents can be disabled before having a chance. I think such classifications aren't helpful when fights come down to more than brute strength.

Not that I necessarily like the way the current Sasuke vs Itachi fight is going, but Itachi doesn't have the same general advantage against a fellow sharingan user.

Well, kinda goes back to how he was determined to not do things Itachi's way back when he first beat Naruto. Killing your best friend may be the easiest path to MS, but if Kakashi is any indication, it's not the only way.
