Honestly though, this relatively minor paralyze discussion is the only thing I have ever seen like this. Yes, there is other misinformation that is being corrected at the exact rate that people actually edit shit, as opposed to complain about it.
I see Tiamat is still casting Fire IV. Interesting.
On this note, I find it fucking hillarious that FFXIClopedia is asking people to donate $12,000 for their server fees. That's ridiculous, and anyone who has any knowledge in this field would know that they don't need anywhere near that amount of money to pay server bills for a year.Originally Posted by BRP
probably each page store too much graphics? if wiki only contains all text-based information. It'll be a lot cheaper.
I don't know, I never managed a wiki, so I don't know how expensive really is
Umm... What is your estimate on the hardware/bandwidth costs for a site that has 600GB of traffic a month?Originally Posted by Taj
Yah Taj, any money I was gonna donate to that lolwiki is going to BG <3
(after my trip to USA!)
I wasn't annoyed at the fact paralyze was getting argued, I was annoyed at the fact that they didn't back up any evidence to prove their point, then (temporarily) locked it.
What is making me lol is how we have to tiptoe around and say it's a dispute, because 1 person who can't back them selves up is saying they personally saw para happen on WS, and nobody else has seen it ever.
Had the same problem when I tried to correct info on EXP lossOriginally Posted by BRP

And Wikipedia doesn't suffer from the same problems when there's someone hellbent on thinking they know what they're talking about?Originally Posted by Lordwafik

Hell they even have an offer for 5TB/month for $5/month at the moment.
I want to raid something.
And you need to supply your own boxes, yes?Originally Posted by Shuemue
lol no, it's professional hosting, 55GB of storage in that package, 55 domain pointers, all the good shit. It's just not a dedicated server, but it's excellent.Originally Posted by divisortheory
Nice, I wonder why Microsoft doesn't host there stuff there too. They could probably handle all their hosting needs for $200-$300 / month yo.Originally Posted by Shuemue

My theory is that if you've gotta be an idiot to play DRG, then any info about DRG testing has to be written by idiots.
Yeah because a fansite is comparable to microsoft.comOriginally Posted by divisortheory
But np, here's one for under $200/month, dedicated hosting, 1500GB/month, they want donations to pay for a package like this for 5 years? http://www.servepath.com/servers/businesspath.htm
I'm a sysadmin for several dedicated servers used for various things (Web, one's like a BF two thousand whatever server, another is for RO) and 600GB of traffic is nothing. ~2000 USD is enough to pay for a very good box with more than a terabyte of bandwidth/month. For an entire year. And that estimate is being very, very generous.Originally Posted by divisortheory
Edit: It should be noted on their campaign page that they're asking for 12,000 USD to pay for just a year of hosting. Anyone who doesn't find that ridiculous is insane. Hell, my fucking Dreamhost account has 2TB of traffic and it cost me $24 for an entire year.
Theyre probably just gonna pocket most of the cash and leave enough to keep the website up.

Bandwidth is pretty cheap last time I checked. XD
Theres gotta be some sort of catch with this >.> The cost of this stuff is cheaper compared to years ago.. but 300$ for unlimited everything plus all of those features? Too good to be true.Originally Posted by Bwelch
