I thought we were done with this. SE was given this rating because they did not respond to BBB and they got the grade at least 3 years before FFXI was in development. This isn't Playonline SE, I don't think SE had anything for customer service then. In comparison to other companies, SE has a very tiny amount of complaints.Which is why SE was rated an F and still function
Now when FFXI is the topic, let BBB never be brought up again.
SE merger was in 2003. I didn't know FFXI was in development in 2006. This information needs to be put on the wiki!Originally Posted by BRP

DQ - nonstop leveling with no plot beyond "Go defeat that evil. No, not that one, the bigger one. No, I don't know where it is, nor can I give you the items to fight it. Have fun!"Originally Posted by Khamsin

btw did they fix the info yet?
All I see is.... waaaah! waaaah!

Maybe now I'll actually read this thread to see if there is something meaningful..
This thread in a nutshell: X forum is better than Y forum (statement made by X forum poster).
The wiki is actually very good and filled with very good information. There are some problems with it, as is the case with all wiki's.
Bg has very good information combined with endless debates about completely irrelevant and vacuous details.
To claim one is better than the other is totally "blind homer" and completely useless. Use all resources available but evaluate those resources with a grain of salt.
I bought DQ8 just to play the FF12 demo. And I pretty much agree with the above statement.Originally Posted by StaplerGuy
DQ8 did have its good moments though, once your characters stopped sucking ass in normal fights.

As for half the comments in this thread.. grow up.
When a page is getting out of hand, and edits are going back and forth because people get heated, we have to lock the page and let the discussions sink in. Now I've read the discussion, and I agree that I have never once seen a weaponskill get stopped due to paralyze. I'd go as far to say that it is true that paralyze will never stop weaponskills, unless SE modifies this behavior.
Don't go crying because the admins locked a page. If you had any idea the amount of traffic FFXIclopedia gets and the amount of work it is for the admins, you might think about cutting us a little slack.
FFXIclopedia has become the number one resource for Final Fantasy XI. There are almost 18,000 articles that 5 people have to look after. If you have a problem with something at FFXIclopedia, I advise you to engage in a mature (zomg, did I say mature at BG...) discussion on the FFXIclopedia forums, rather than running your mouth over here to feed your ego. If you have a real concern, or think something is just out of hand, my door is always open to hear about it. I've never turned anyone away.
As for the comments on our fund raiser. $12,000 is a very real number. Anyone making comments suggesting it doesn't cost that much to run the site has no experience with running a site of our size. If you would actually take the time to read our Site Support page you might actually have an idea of the load our site generates. Aside from the actual discussion on paralyze, this thread is filled with more misinformation than anything else..

I suggest you reread the history of the paralysis "dispute" with timestamps in consideration. It's pretty clear that Nynaeve used the protection mechanism not to quell any edit war but rather to further her own agenda.Originally Posted by Ganiman
As a forum Admin I can say this for certain:
Regarding "Misinformation"
A lot of the stuff in there is borrowed from research on other sites. If it says Tiamat Casts Fire IV, someone pulled it from somewhere else. I've never fought Tiamat, so I can't say that's untrue. If I could, I'd change it rather than run to another forum and cry "Wah, wiki is wrong!!"
One of the things *I* love about the wiki is that misinformation can be corrected. I've fixed numerous things on there. In fact, as mentioned above, there was a debate about xp. I was pretty certain I was right. But I got proved wrong. When I was proved wrong, the thing got changed.
However, the problem with the Paralysis discussion, and the OP's original comments are: instead of discussing it rationally, people have gone ahead and attempted to do edit wars. This is pointless and distructive. It happened on the xp page. People kept editing back and forth and not discussing it on the talk page. When all the information came out on the talk page, people like me were proved wrong. Okay then. The correct result was then placed on the front page. So instead of 50 edits back and forth which accomplished nothing, the discussion page solved everything.
As for the Paralysis page, the edits, as it currently stands, states exactly what all the dissenters are saying. There is *no* real need to have these qualifiers like *everyone* and *strongly.*
As an Admin, I've elected to stay out of the discussion. I have vague memories of Paralyze stopping mob TP moves, but can't remember it ever stopping a melee WS. Then again, I'm a mage. And my vague memories mean nothing and provide no proof either way. Albeit, after reading the arguments, I'm tending to agree that Paralyze does not affect WSs or Mob TP moves.
In sum, the ONLY way pages get locked is if children go in and attempt to do an edit war. If that is your method for resolving disputes, then the page will get locked. If you don't want it locked, don't be childish and start an edit war. Start a discussion on the talk page instead.
Finally, if the information is wrong ... change it!!! For heaven's sake, we don't want incorrect information. That's why we made it a wiki, so that you could go in a fix it. No one website is always going to be correct. Even a BG Wiki will have errors. The fact that it is a wiki allows people to go and correct it.
Regarding Costs
If you read the above post by Sykes, you should note that Sykes is the current host for the FFXIclopedia. It's his hardware and bandwidth we're using. He knows what's going on. Those plans that you are referring to, could not even hold a candle to the amount of traffic we get. We are getting more than 30M hits a month, and I'm being conservative. BG probably doesn't even get a tenth of that.
If you don't want to donate, then don't. But don't complain to us if you want to use the wiki.
And if you don't like the wiki, don't use it.
Yeah, let's just sit and twiddle our thumbs because we (the userbase) are posting real facts, and your moron admin is trying to post her "I saw it once apon a time but have no way to back myself up" as a dispute, when really nobody is agreeing with her (aside from the dude she yoinked to back her up).Don't go crying because the admins locked a page.
Her locking a page of misinformation is stupid.
How do you change what's locked? Finally, if the information is wrong ... change it!!! For heaven's sake, we don't want incorrect information. That's why we made it a wiki, so that you could go in a fix it.
It's unlocked now, but the only reason this argument is here in the first place is because she locked the page up when she couldn't back herself up and the rest of us could.
