I was forced to use them throughout middle and high school. I know how to use 'em to an extent. But if an opportunity came up to buy a mac or PC, I'd get the PC. Unless the mac was a laptop.. those things are crazy.

If Linux supports game and multimedia as much as windows, I'll gladly switch over to linux and enjoy Beryl
Its not just a service pack, there is big upgrade for each new OS X version, and beside i rather pay $129 for a "service pack" that actually works and have all futures rather than $400+ for a "ultimate" vista version ..Originally Posted by Mifaco

linux makes my head hurt ; ;
Personally I prefer Apple's way of releasing the OS.
It's not a service pack, no, since the previous version of the OS continues to get updates and things if needed. You tend to have major features added, and it's a completely independent install of the OS, which is nice.
That $129 buys you a complete, no BS version of the OS. No serial number, no activation, just the OS that works. If you do want to buy a license per machine, they offer a $250 family pack of 5 licenses.
OSX is nice, it's BSD UNIX, and has a lot of recompiled Linux apps as a result. Comes with X Windows, comes with a full developer kit, etc.
The machines are very solid too, nowdays they're capable of running Windows as well. Main problem IMO is the lack of an affordable but expandable desktop. Like a tower in the $1000-1200 price point.
New Intel Macs can run Windows--Also, Crossover (which can easily be lolpirated), can run most Window applications inside Mac OS X without booting into a Windows partion or running a second OS through Parallels.
Does it run FFXI?
CrossOver? I installed PlayOnline on my MacBook Pro (OS X, I already have it installed on my XP partion), but it wouldn't open past the initial startup screen. Regardless, you can easily run FFXI through XP (or lolvista) on an intel mac using BootCamp or Parallels, though Parallels isn't great for gaming.
Sounds like Aladwar is trying to sell us on buying Macs on its best virtue being that it can run Windows XP and Windows applications.![]()
1. OP should go commit suicide.
2. OS 9 and below is lame, OS X is made of win and BSD. I seriously can't think of a single reason I wouldn't want a Mac now. They use Intel chipsets, the OS is based on BSD, and you can dual boot Windows. What's not to love?

I just thought it was impressive what a free OS was pumping out compared to the latest from M$.
Speaking of Vista, I have a .jpg file that causes explorer.exe to memory leak to the point of making the OS unusable.

Old pic, but this is PlayOnline View Config running under crossover: The PlayOnline icon is in my dock, but as I said, it wouldn't actually launch for me--got stuck on the PlayOnline welcome screen.
