DS "Must Buy" Games

I played Pearl/Diamond a while ago and my biggest problem was that it basically could've been on the GBA if they didn't move the battle menu and key items to the touch screen. Nothing really new, except that the Grass starter doesn't suck anymore. The new pokemon are pretty boring and generic, and when they're unique, they're useless (looking at you, Fuwante).

But pfft everyone in this thread is clearly pirating, no sense in writing a "5 minute review" to elaborate beyond "shit sucks" since all you lose if you don't like it is an hour of your free time

Ok, so Fire Red/Leaf Green, Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald. Got those generations covered. Good stuff.

But my question is this: Is the Gold/Silver version generation covered in any GBA pac? Cuz I was hoping to be able to transfer gold and silver version pokemon to my diamond/pearl version.

cant do anything with your G/S game pak
in total, there's only about 20-50 unique gen2 you can get (excluding evos) in FR/LG/R/S/E, so... afraid not only legendaries you can get are entei, raikou, suicune, and lugia/ho-oh (event) i think
possible to get G/S starters if you cap emerald pokedex but thats fucking gayyyyyyy

you need that gamecube game to get all G/S versions... maybe they'll do a remake of G/S like they did FR/LG

Oh God, yeah. You're right. Geez with all this crap, it's gonna be more of a time sink than an MMORPG to complete the diamond/pearl pokedex. Well, unless other ppl have those Pokemon Coliseum and other crap stuff to trade online. You can put pokemon you're looking for in the Trade center.

I'm still thinking which starter I should choose, and whether to evolve it early for the evolved typed moves or just keep them in chibi form until they learn the highest elemental move. I fucked up my previous Emerald and my Treecko evolved too early, and ended up in him having really shitty moves. Fucking False Swipe.

Now I'm deciding between Torchic with Flamethrower & Fires Spin or Blaziken with Blaze Kick.

it was annoying and a waste of 30min, but i breeded > flamethrower torchic > egg moved it to another torchic > blaziken with flamethrower/blazekick/skyupper/thunderpunch... pretty satisfied with it, since i always have a agility batoner :wink:

uh, how would that hacked rom work though... actionreplay/etcshit to play rom on nds and pal park would still work?

i havent played poke'mon since original red/blue. these 2 seem mad hyped, and a friend at work is convincing me to get Pearl, he'll lend me all the old games so I can get some poke'mon to trade over when I start pearl.

I still debate getting back into this, last I recalled it was addictive, and online play will do me no favors.

That blaziken might be decent if you got rid of Blaze Kick and replaced it with another move. Having 2 fire moves, one of which is inferior to the other (Blaze Kick < Flamethrower) is really pointless. How many times do you run out of PP on one and have to use another, really come on now ;p
One type per Move is the motto of a true competitive player.

Syn, go with Flamethrower, iirc BlazeKick has a high crit ratio but it's offset by having an 80% chance to hit or something stupid.

i havent played poke'mon since original red/blue. these 2 seem mad hyped, and a friend at work is convincing me to get Pearl, he'll lend me all the old games so I can get some poke'mon to trade over when I start pearl.

I still debate getting back into this, last I recalled it was addictive, and online play will do me no favors.

You can't trade pokemon until you beat it I think.

But pokemon isn't hard at all, just diversify your team, don't use TMs and pwn :D

Blaze Kick is 90% Accuracy. Another thing is that evolving fast gets you other moves which sorta helps your Torchic becomes more useful, Double Kick, Slash. Torchic is stuck with only Ember and lawl Fire Spin if you decided to wait to Flamethrower to evolve. :\

For dumping. Simply put, you can't have a DS cart and a Slot 1 flash cart in the DS at the same time.

Anyway, I'm an idiot, just found out that Emerald 386 only allows you to choose Squirtle/Cyndaquil/Treecko. Gonna go with teh Squirt.
