Just an fyi, if you really care about GBA pokemon games, you'll probably want an M3 or whatever the other ones are, because the only thing supercard doesn't support is the gba real time clock.

(Pearl/Diamond work perfectly because they use the DS clock)

But it doesn't really matter much, because you can't use GBA link on any of them to send stuff to your pal park.

IMO, if you care a lot about Pokemon, and you already bought emerald, go ahead and also buy your pearl, that way you can transfer stuff to it like you planned. Use a flash cart for everything else. (FYI, pal park only opens up after you clear the elite 4, iirc, actually, it might have required having "seen" all 150(151?) pokemon in the regional dex, it's been a while )

I don't skimp on Pokemon games, I have my pearl reserved, nukka!

Ok so it's settled, I buy JUS (because I assume I need the original and not a ROM to play online with you guys) and I'll buy some Supercards, so that I can play any other games I want, i.e. Kirby, Castlevania, etc.

Correct answer, you download ROMs and flash them onto your SD/MiniSD, and stick that in your supercard. However, the problem with Supercards is the sheer slowdown on games like FFVI. I don't know if the Slot 1 (NDS) supercards resolve this issue, but I know for certain I get slowdown on my SD Supercard.

I don't get any slowdowns at all on FF6, I have a Supercard Lite. Actually, I don't ever recall getting any slowdowns at all.

Were you able to get past the Opera House? The slowdown there actually prevented me from continuing. It seems key points in Celes' singing are supposed to be synchronized with the music. What this means is that the soundtrack would be at the point where Celes is singing the final part...while the actual Celes is still dancing with the knight. So, I grab the roses, go up to the top, and the game just hangs.

I had to copy my sav and ROM file back to my computer to play it on VBA just so I could continue. Thank god for emulators.

Nothing to say that hasn't really been said.. Mario Kart DS is amazing alone or with friends, I also play a lot of the two Bleach games with people I know,
pretty good games (though I admit, I get bored of it easily on my own )

Trauma Center is CRAP! OK, I only say that because I'm stuck on a hard part (for the past few months since I gave up) and it's pissing me off..

I really like Castlevania: Portrait of Rain and Children Mana is a pretty fun game if you don't mind grinding a bit..

One of my favorite games right now (besides MKDS) is Daigasso Band Brothers, it's a music game from Japan and it keeps me entertained for hours, even though I bought it months ago (you can play different intstruments in a song.. even has game songs from Mario, Zelda, etc., multiplayer mode apparently lets you perform a song with others (Download and Playable), but I didn't get a chance to try it out)

Finding a JUS ROM won't be hard, I am just worried about how this whole Supercard shit works. Which card is the best for a DS lite(i.e. Won't stick out like a retarded apendage when inserted into the game slot on the DS), is that the Supercard DS(One)? And what exactly do I buy? They talk about software and some sort of USB thing, but I can't find any of that...

The cheapest Supercard is like 50 dollars it looks like, I made a post on their forums asking wtf is going on because the site is in like broken english and I can't figure out how to get the games onto the cartridge. It mentions some USB device, is that included with every purchase? I don't know.

Anyway, ya I might end up buying the game if this whole supercard thing doesn't work out. You'd think the site would be a little more informative.

The rom sites I use only have like nes, snes, genesis, etc.
And I thought the card was only for gba games, not ds.

I'm only going to describe slot2 because it's the only type that can support GBA games.

You have to buy the following items:

- Supercard Lite (DO NOT GET RUMBLE DO NOT GET RUMBLE NO RUMBLE NO NO NO, RUMBLE DOES NOT SUPPORT GBA, DO NOT GET RUMBLE)
- Superkey (This device is needed to fool the DS that you can play DS games)
- MicroSD memory stick, Micro is the tiny one, you'll probably want an adaptor to use a regular card reader (I bought something like this http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-MicroSD-A ... 55-1124431 )
- A USB card reader to transfer your patched games onto your memory stick

So, basically, once you have all that:

Download the supercard software from their website, there's 2 things you'll need:

1) The update file to update your firmware
2) The program that runs on your computer that patches NDS and GBA games into the format that the supercard reads. (This is really simple to use, if you really need a guide for it, ffs just search for it. fifthe1ement or w/e his name is should have a good guide)

Now, after you copy all your files into your memory stick (ALL files, each NDS game has 2 files, GBA has 3 files) put it inside your supercard and put it on your GBA slot and run.

To execute the firmware updater, just run the update file (make sure you also upload that, don't need to patch it lol)

Now, your DS can play any GBA game.

Saving using GBA mode:

When you use an ingame save, after you save, hold down L R Select A, this brings up a menu asking if you want to save. Click yes and it updates your save file. You have to do this every time you save if you want it to actually save. It's not that bad, really, it becomes a habit after a while.

GBA mode also has another feature: Real Time Save. Think of it as save states that you have in emulators, to pull it up hold down L R Select B, and you'll get a save/load menu, choose what you want. (Note: For some games, mainly FF games (all i've played lol) you might get a black/blue/whatever screen when you load, just hit start to go to menu and back, or save your state inside a menu to avoid it alltogether. Don't save while talking or in a battle, or it might screw up lol)

Now, to play NDS games, you need that Superkey, which you put into your NDS slot. This device tricks your DS into thinking that it has a DS game in it, and so it lets you play DS games.

If that's placed inside, you can run both NDS and GBA games on your supercard. DS games save normally, so you don't need to hit commands to save. (Also note that DS games don't have the real time save feature)

So anywhere from $95 to 140. Memory cards are a lot cheaper now than when I first got it, ended up getting a 1gig stick for about 1.5x the price of what a 2 gig costs now =(

Oh, and about the memory sticks, if you don't buy the type I showed you, make sure you get something with good read/write rates so you don't get slow downs.

I appreciate this very much. One quick follow up. When I get to the opening DS screen with the DS game at the top, GBA at the bottom, and pictochat/download play in the middle. What do I select? Because it seems like I could store, say, 5 gba games on the cart right? How do I choose the one? Do I just hit play GBA game and then it brings up the games I have on there?

Supercard lite is smaller than a gba cart, it fits into the bottom. Superkey looks like a NDS game and goes into that slot.

When you boot up supercard, it brings up its own menu, that lists all the files you have in your memory stick. The white screen with pictochat/etc only comes up if supercard isn't inserted.

And um, just look at the size of NDS/GBA roms.

Most GBA roms are from like 4-8MB, NDS roms vary from 20ish up to 120(the largest I've seen)

Just do the math from there and see how many megabytes you can fit into 1 or 2 gig(depending which one you buy)

Q: How about the SuperCard power usage?
A: Normally, GBASP can play 5-6 hours. NDS can play NDS game with SuperPass for 4 hours. You can plug out the SuperPass at SC Menu, and select NDS game to run, that can play more 1 or 2 hours.

So it only lasts 4 hours? Pass, isn't the normal life of a DS with a real game like almost a full day? Screw this.

Normal is like 10-12 hours I think. Mine lasts a good 5 hours at least before it goes into the red light, which I believe is 33% life left.
