Need Help Picking A Research Topic...AM. Federal Govt. ugh:(

I totally agree, I hate the electoral college, I think it directly insults the Americans intelligence in making them think they have a direct role in the choice of the current President. Gore and Kerry both won the last 2 elections imo, but the college was like nope, we are gonna put who we want kthx.
Probably will never happen though, and it is sad, it is a big takeaway from the democracy that we have.

but we dont have a democracy, we have a republic, which is the way it was meant to be. the founding fathers thought democracies were forms of tyranny...they didnt mention democracy in the constitution, though they ensured a 'republican government' in fact, John Adams said that democracies dont last long and there hadn't been one yet that hadnt 'committed suicide'. when asked what kind of government the US was, Ben Franklin said a republic. I dont think anyone called the US a democracy until FDR

i'd say because most of the US population is stupid but that'd be an opinion and i'm stickin' to facts, like that they dont but you made a good attempt

Since just bringing up the electoral college sparke somewhat of a debate on here I figured that was going to be the best bet. I even added what you guys said in the actual proposal.

Here is my paper proposal:

I want to discuss how the electoral college deters people to vote, as it makes the popular vote look like a front. Basically a debate between the popular vote vs. the electoral college, and if we even need an electoral college.



Anyway, thanks everyone so much for your help! Couldn't have thought of something without ya. Elph and Po I might PM you sometime while actually writing the thing if she accepts my proposal for some help if I run into a dead end in my research. Thanks again though so so so much guys!
