Netscape has been too bloated and buggy since like...version 6 when they decided to integrate over 9000 tools with it. I don't see why "download firefox" is an invalid response.

If this were a car support forum and someone said "my Yugo's gearbox is really catching between 2nd and 3rd gears, what do I do?" I'm quite certain the response "quit driving a Yugoslavian piece of shit" would be quite common.

edit: on topic of the last post, I really liked Opera too but it's not very good at rendering "complex" pages like espn.com lol

Because it does not answer my question that's why. Browser trolls GTFO already.

I'm not sure you understand. Here, I'll try and help:

    GO DOWNLOAD FIREFOX, RETARD

    http://download.mozilla.org/?product...win&lang=en-US

I hope that was clear enough.

Actually I was the second to tell you to get firefox? Just reiterating my point that you're retarded and fail at listening to reason.

Ok guys, we know Firefox is a great browser, but that's not his question.

    His question is :

Alright. I have the latest verison of Netscape. Been using Netscape for like two years, no issues. However, about two days ago, it started randomly freezing when I used it. And -just- Netscape at that, nothing else would freeze, I'd Ctri-Alt-Del and it would say "Not responding" while my CPU usage normaly around 3-8% when i'm just browisng would skyrocket to 40%+ and remain there till it would unfreeze. I've removed it, downloaded the latest again, installed it, same shit. Norten, Microsoft, Lavasoft, etc all detect nothing. Also note again it does not affect IE, e-mail, games, Muds, nothing. Just Netscape. Any ideas on how it fix this?
    And in bold

If you can't answer him, gtfo this topic. If you can answer him, awesome, please do. If your answer isn't about how to fix netscape and more towards "download firefox", don't post.

I've been having the same issue with Netscape as the OP, except it would take 99% of my CPU at times, causing pretty much everything to freeze until I was able to close it. (Sometimes it would just unlock after a couple minutes).

I ended up dling Firefox, but I want all my Bookmarks and stuff from Netscape... so I guess I'd like to add the question-- how would I do that? Firefox will import IE bookmarks but I don't see an option for Netscape.

    Help?

I was able to save my Netscape bookmarks and import them into IE, but what I want is my various saved passwords, because there's a shitload and some of them I can't remember properly. If Firefox can do both, i'm game and Netscape goes byebye.

To OP: Netscape is buggy. I recommend reinstalling, or get an alternate browser.

And you won't be able to import your saved passwords.

I think there is a problem with how Netscape handles SWF files. A while back I had a problem with Netscape, when I would keep a page like the FFXI home page open for too long the browser would take up more and more memory and start chewing up CPU time, when I would close the page both would drop. This would only happen when a page with flash would stay open for several hours, it would get progressively worse until my computer started crawling. It is possible that there is a memory leak like Netscape is not properly unloading movie clips creating duplicates that hog up processor power.

I fixed it by switching to Firefox.

My professor showed us something like this a few years ago. He was using Netscape on Linux, and there was a little flash timer on some random webpage that was being implemented by calling fork every second. So he left it on overnight and when he got back it had used up all the process IDs or something.

Hm. I think that may be it. I left the PC on for about three-four days before hand and left Netscape going. Some of the webpages had flash and Netscape was going the whole time so...

    Do memory leaks self repair?

    Once you reboot, yeah.

Typically they'll be corrected when you close the app (or end it via task manager)
