    Besieged Adjustments 2/20/07

    In the upcoming version update, we plan to make further adjustments to Besieged, including a level increase to the beastman armies, the addition of new temporary items, and new combat abilities for the Serpent Generals.

    Beastman Army Level Increase

    In addition to the maximum value for enemy forces being increased to 170, level 7 units comprised of new monster types will be introduced for each beastman army.
    Be sure to participate in Besieged to discover what deadly new opponents threaten the Imperial capital!

    New Temporary Items

    To coincide with the threat of powerful new enemies, the variety of temporary items distributed at the beginning of every Besieged will also be expanded.
    These new items will have an offensive focus, and their availability will depend on which NPCs have been taken captive and the overall condition of the Imperial defense.

    Serpent General Abilities

    The Serpent Generals will each receive unique new combat abilities to use during Besieged.

    new combat abilities huh..... wonder how many people will actually be able to see them amongst all the lag.

    And how many people you'll need minimum to beat lvl 7. Carbuncle almost lost lvl 6 today with about 480 people

    And we needed stronger NMs because......we kill them already? Not about other servers but on Kujata, they sure don't die easily (aka I have never seen one die).

    Ragnarok regularly drops 2-3 NM's per Besieged, though the HNM's are rare kills. L7's ought to give us more time to take them down.

    Seeing the Serpents get unique abilities makes things more interesting, if those abilities have a wide-ranging effect. Item gifts being tied to Imperial Defense means more people need to get Turbans so I get neat stuff to gank beastmen with.

    besieged stuff dont really get me hyped.. altho the presence of new mobs is definitely welcome.

    hmm.. offensive focus? temporary kraken clubs? lol
    potion of mighty strikes? potion of hundred fists? would be fun if they did something like that lol

    I personally love Besieged, so I'm excited.
    On Bahamut we usually kill a NM or two >_> Regularly get one exp bonus, I think we killed Gulool Ja Ja once too but I wasn't there so

    Hammer would correspond with axe skill anyway haha

    I stay away from the HNM's during besieged mostly unless I have at least 5 others to back me up in party or alliance. Cause it's most likely i'll die at least once, and I don't want to miss out on the exp if im dead at the end

    Oh not saying Kujata doesn't kill the NMs, I meant Medusa and the like

    Or you can be a good sport and donate your oh-so-precious IS even after getting a turban. :wink:

    ok, i know this is SE, and im dreaming, but i think it'd be exceptionally cool if these new items gave stuff like food effects(im sorry im not popping sushi when the guy next to me is using the kraken club he bought with his ige gold card on a damn bomb), or, and i know this will never happen, but new weaponskills. pop a food and for 10 minutes you get a besieged only weaponskill or something.

    i know, silly, and impractical, but would be very very cool.

    knowing SE, they'll just give us a cursed beverage and ask us to be happy that no divine logs were harmed in the making of it.

    Yeah you're probably right. Looking at it again it looks more curve-y. Also it looks like they stole the Moblins masks.

    Which is something they need to fix, imo. If they can give you the IS, what can't they give you the XP?

    Item guessing:
    Warp - for those who changed their mind in being in besieged
    Free food - Raise Acc, attack, and HMP
    Regen - Something to add a long and potent regen

    What I wish is that they made everyone wear identical armor to reduce unique character loading to alleviate the client and reduce lag of 200 people gathered around the same monster :3

    Probably gonna be the same stuff you get in Salvage ... Fighter's/Barbarian's drink and so on.

    Temporary food is a good idea. How about item to remove weakened status too?

    You have to kill the NMs to win. Mamools tend to retreat when only JaJa is left. Trolls tend to warp when there is 1-3 NM left (usually Claw, Artifactor and sometimes leftover Ariel Torpedo) and Menacing. Undead tend to retreat when there are 2 NMs left (usually Lamia 12, 14 or that Qubtub NM) plus Medusa.

    To kill the megaboss you really need some cheerleaders or else it won't happen. I was going consistently for a few months and would shout and try to get boss kills, we got JaJa twice, Menacing once and I've never seen Medusa fall (20% once). The biggest problem is people who will bitch about it taking an extra 10 or 15 minutes, right, like you got something better to do and have seen the boss die so many times it's just not worth it. The few times I've been back since there have only been half hearted attempts at the boss and he's usually at 90%+ when they warp.

    My shouts were something like /sh <t> @ <pos> xx% {Focus}{Mega Boss}{everyone} {Disengage}{Sub Boss}{Yes, please.} and other shouts of general encouragement. Shouting the exact location is huge too, just a <pos> isn't enough with all the lag, multiple floors and the time it takes for character models to show up. The bosses are easy, it's just a question of getting enough bodies attacking him and everyone else NOT killing the NMs too quickly so they retreat.

    I also question the wiki's knowledge of "NMs get weaker as you kill the normal mobs". I think this is a false conclusion simply because there isn't a large number of people focusing on the a NM. For example that Qubtub NM, everyone will smash his 4 helpers and then focus on the main guy.

    Was the boss actually weakened or is it because you now have ALLL the people who were beating on his pets are now beating on him whereas before it was just a handfull of people keeping him busy.

    i hate when people shout to kill the HNMs, especially when they just enter and there are a million other mobs around

    most normal NMs though get killed on fairy though (dunno about recently since missed some besiegeds)

    HAY GUYZ LETS TAEK AN EXTRA 40 MINUETS TO KILL MEDUSKA INSTEAD OF KILLING LAMIA 12 IN 10 MINUETS JUST FOR AN EXTRA 40 XP AND IS !!!!!!11111


    Kill them ASAP and get your xp/is. If the reward for killing Medusa was better than a dismal extra 40 xp/is, I'd understand it. But fuck, Besieged allready takes like 45-60 minutes. End the shit christ.
