    Account security

Eh this seems like kind of a seedy thing to be asking... but does anyone have any suggestions for how to go about ensuring not getting screwed over while trading accounts (trade, not buying). Long story short, I can't recover my old account which I foolishly deleted... a friend gave me one to play on which I've been using for a few months, but the original owner of that account is now playing again and wants his account back dearly, and is willing to trade a very nice character in return.

I do feel bad because if it were the same situation reversed I'd really want my account back, and I know that at some point way back his account was stolen (a bunch of people before I got it, I was told the original guy quit a long time ago so I agreed to play on it).

So anyways, I have another content ID where I can put all my gil/equip that isn't rare/ex, and so does he. I'm looking for this situation to be a happy one where we both get what we want.

So what info do I need to make sure that the account can't be taken back at some point of the future?

-Is it sufficient to simply gain access and change the credit card info, and is getting the registration info required? I believe I could go on his account first and change the info because he is so desperate to get his account back he'd be willing to trust me (I'm not gonna screw him).

-Anyone know if I can get some temporary credit card (like a card with 40 bucks on it or something, set to expire after the money is spent) to put as the info on my current account so I don't have to worry about my real CC info being stolen in a shitty RL situation?

    Any info would be appreciated.

http://www.simon.com or http://www.giftcards.com - Virtual gift cards loaded as low as $25. They are Visa's and treated the exact same as credit cards. That should suit your purpose.

As far as getting onto his account first, it is vital that you change both the credit card info and password. As for as the membership info (address, etc.) I'm not exactly sure if you need to change that but it cant help. When I was recalling my account they said I didn't need it, but maybe that was because I had my reg codes.

    Good luck :D

The most someone else can see when logging on your account is your billing name and address. The credit card number is x'd out so they won't be able to steal that, and the POL help desk/phone support won't give out credit card information, so there's really no need to use a gift card.

Like the last poster said, change the credit card info and POL password as soon as you get the account. As long as your friend doesn't know either there's no way he can get back into that account.
