not all of pandy's finest RMT are so well equipped or go without notice.

Saw a group at gustav tunnel last night camping gobbies/crabs for exp and their taru mages were actually in their level 1. RSE still, with maybe onyx rings and that's it. Not kidding you. Tanks weren't much better.

Interesting thing though- I'm so used to seeing hordes of taru blms with one or two galka plds in tow heading out to exp alliance style (all rank 1 windy almost always) that this was quite a shock- all sandy rank 1, but a mix of elvaan and taru (2 THF, 2 NIN, WHM, BLM- mages taru, all others were elvaan). Subjobs WERE properly leveled, but like I said gear was atrocious and they had two PLers (taru BLMs).

I was EXPing BLM off the goblin sheperd pets down there, and no sooner did they see what I was doing did they start pulling sheperds- to their demise. Guess they didn't realize that with gimptastic gear you aren't gonna sleep jack as a BLM. (no staves even).

Most RMT are decently equipped, and more than a few wear some very high end gear as advertisements, so they're not exactly gimp. It's fun when BLMs don't sleep something successfully though...

Don't look at the BLMs usually for the bad gear; I'd say look at the NINs, any random DDs they may have, and their BARDS... I love seeing 75BRDs in full regular old AF.. well, possibly and likely a Minstrel's Coat at least... at Behe camps. :/

lolspecialtaskforce, not 1 legit player in the shrine at all. RMT have already recycled new people in there to farm, half of those people are new to sky.

So they fail for not banning accounts that have not done anything suspicious or wrong since their creation?

China RMTs are masters at switching IP's, Blizzard and L2 tried massive IP bans.

Just ban all Chinese IP's.

Honestly, the minority of the Chinese player base that is not RMT is too small compared to the amount of RMT there are (and we all know most RMT is infact Chinese)

The computer is still bound to the 2-3 second ping though.

FFXIAPP cant bypass the fact that by the time you get the packet of "MOB has spawned", MOB is allready claimed to someone else.

Mass IP bans have been tried and failed in other MMORPG's . FFXI would be no exception.

You have a pretty crappy proxy if it's adding 2-3 seconds of lag. A good tunnel or VPN should add 250ms of lag tops. And fortunately for the botters, that extra lag can be compensated for thanks to the claim delay. Say that the round trip between their computer receiving the spawn packet and the server receiving their claim packet in return is increased by 400ms ... all they have to do is decrease the claim delay setting in their bots by 400ms.

Besides that, despite any additional lag, the response time a bot provides is still going to out-pace that of the average human. Plus, I'd guess that only 10% of RMT activity relies on fast claiming. The rest is fishing, crafting, digging, mining, etc. bots.

I agree with this wholeheartedly. I used to join a chinese shell for limbus, they weren't RMT, they just did limbus/ouryu/bahamut 2, etc, they had their own Dynamis LS.

However a few months back, I get a /tell from the LS leader that there's not gonna be limbus anymore, because they're quitting the game. I asked them what's gonna happen to their toons, they said they're gonna sell them off.

It's in chinese culture I think, they don't see it as something wrong, they see it as something you do when you finish the game. Naturally I was pissed because I helped them finish relic GK / get homam etc (yes, 5/5 homam and relic GK rmt'd! ). But I can't see banning chinese IPs as detrimental to the game, especially considering the fact that this game has not launched in china officially, which means there's no reason they should be allowing them to play.
