You'd be the first person I've ever heard to call The Departed a crappy film. Ever. The Departed is an amazing movie from all aspects, and deserved to win just as much as any of the other films that were nominated. It's an adaptation from another film, so what? It's still its own film, with its own style, and it did a good job.

Movies are for entertainment, and that's what it did. It did a good job, and it won a well deserved award.

Should just drop this argument now, it'll just go in circles.

Also, the producers paid to adapt IA. You can't just steal a source material, you pay for the rights, just like a book or play. That's why it's adapted, not original, like many, many other films. Would you complain if the dialogue in a book is the same as a movie? Most book-to-film adaptations are much closer to the source material than The Departed was to Infernal Affairs.

I think you are misunderstanding me. I have no problem with IA being adapted into an American film, I don't even have problem with it being 100% same as the original, what I do have problem with is it winning the biggest award any American film can win, and I'm not upset because I liked the original (even though I did like it a lot) but because what it says about American film industry, that we are no longer artistic or creative. And that, my friend, is a very sad thing.

Except for the fact that you are referring specifically to this, there are a lot of good movies, but from the fact that you saw these movies before the Departed and the fact that you have anime in your sig, I'm guessing you don't see many american movies. You probably focus more on anime and other asian movies, but if you haven't seen little miss sunshine you don't know shit about american cinema today.

Well it took 4 Oscars home, looks like the studio will surely pump out the next sequels.

It was an OK Oscars, some parts were boring, but overall they had a good feel.
