So the Academy is shit, and makes crap decisions, but you would, by your own internal logic, also make shitty decisions if you were on the academy.Originally Posted by GRT

I dont know if this was mentioned I missed a couple pages of this thread. I really liked the awards this year there was a lot of variety and a lot of great movies. It was not like past years where you have 3 movies that are the same all going for the same awards all with similar actors in them. Some really great movies came out this year.
Thank you from someone whos actually seen it besides the babbling idiot.. I ordered the movie online and should get it in a few days. Hopefully I can do a side-by-side comparison with my Blu-Ray version of The Departed and see how close they actually are.Originally Posted by markasstrick

But onto the real response to that "analysis," yes I have seen little miss sunshine, although IMO Babel should have won, that's a good film too.
There are indeed good films out of Hollywood, but I assumed most people who often read internet forums can catch the unintentional fallacy in my "hollywood makes crappy films" that what I meant was that "majority of hollywood films are crappy" which I think would be supported by a quick glance over at rottentomatos... and for a film to have no creativity or originality in any category to win the biggest award is just gonna tip the slope downhill even steeper.
Oh, and me being upset is mostly disappointment, not hatred. I have no reason to hate an industry producing stuff of a major passtime of mine![]()
You expressed hatred a few posts ago because you had to spend money to see these "horrible movies". Keep contridicting yourself though, no one is noticing.Originally Posted by GRT

Dude, I don't say this often but are you an idiot? Who categorized "upset for having money and time wasted" as hatred?Originally Posted by Keno
I dont know about you but if I had my money and time stolen from me I'd be more than upset. And yes, upset is often synonymous with hatred; they are on the same continuum. I suppose your use of logical fallacy though is your only way of coping with a losing arguement.Originally Posted by GRT
Um, did you see the yahoo movies poll right after the departed was released on who think the new version's better? 91% of people who saw both said the original was over the top betterOriginally Posted by Keno
news flash: just because hollywood actors make more money and receive more western publicity doesn't mean they are better actors than ones in other continents
and yah departed had a different ending, not necessarily a better one unless you are one of those naive little kids who thought the good guys should always win![]()
Wait, the good guys won in the departed? Fuck, I thought everybody except the half-insane guy lost.Originally Posted by GRT
Well I don't think he was mentioning the different ending to say it was better, but merely to suggest that there WERE differences in the two films. As for that poll, it's clearly biased. Everyone saw IF first and are therefore more apt to like it better for a multitude of reasons (mainly because if they saw it first they are most likely Asian of some sort, and therefore more accustomed to Asian film; there are other reasons like the BIT [burned image theory] but I won't delve into them on an internet forum with you).Originally Posted by GRT
Frankly I'd like to make an opinion for myself.
EDIT: Yeah, the good guys won, lol. Thats why DiCaprio got shot in the face right? And why Cpt. Quenin got thrown off a building? Mark Wahlberg can hardly be considered a "good guy".
tell me which elementary school you went to so i don't send my kids there plz thxOriginally Posted by Keno

Yeah, go back to some comment I made a few posts ago, don't touch on the one I just made. And if you don't think that being upset is on the same continuum and having hatred for something then you clearly lack the definition of one of the words in this sentance. Not to mention, you are dodging my main point which is that if someone stole my MONEY and my TIME, that I would be merely upset. If that's the fucking case, let me know where you live, I'd like to have a look around your house. I don't know where you were raised but the normal emotion around here for someone stealing something of yours is rage.Originally Posted by GRT
EDIT: It doesn't matter which school you send your kids to, they won't be with the majority of the kids anyways... I believe the term is "special students"?
sorry if I just get disappointed instead of hating the movie producers when the movie is bad.... you need to chill a bit manOriginally Posted by Keno
oh yah, before you make even bigger fool of yourself, when the movie is bad, i waste my time and money, simple cause and effect![]()
well the bad guys didn't win, so i guess that's satisfactory for a lot of people...Originally Posted by Jooeetheplatypus
but the bad guys didn't win either in the original, there's an issue of what's winning and losing in the movie which the original points out at the very beginning with a buddhism story
don't wanna spell it out and spoil the fun for ya
IA is not really a "gangster movie" like the departed is catagorized in, it's more about morals and character struggle than about guns and violence
When I see a movie, and it's utter shit, I feel robbed. I'm obviously not saying that when I leave the theater I have seething rage against the producers, but obviously I'm not happy. And what the hell does your second statement have to do with anything?Originally Posted by GRT
And for your clarification, the only person that looks like a fool here is you. I mean, it'd be different if it was just me calling you a fool, but basically the whole room is.
Holy shit GRT, could you post more times in a single thread if you tried?
But moving on -- I'm absolutely enthralled at The Deparated winning. I didn't see Infernal Affairs, and I frankly don't give a shit. I did, however, see The Departed -- And I thought it was amazing.
If you tried hard enough, you could prove that every movie ever has been based on another movie at some point. And I don't need to do a side-to-side comparison of The Departaed and Infernal Affairs to know that you're just acting high and mighty because 'Hey I'm cool, I saw this asian movie and you didn't!"
You've said your piece, no reason to keep whining.
