    Need to re-install onboard graphics

So basically, my video card is being retarded so I'm trying to switch back to the onboard graphics chip.
I can't find it in Device Manager and I can't reinstall it by Scanning for changes or through Manual install.

I have the proper drivers, but it's like the hardware has just vanished and can't be found by the computer. What can I dooooo

P.S. I know onboard video sucks balls so whatever

Presuming you have a Dell since it has OnBoard shitty v-chip.
It should be on one of your restoration CD's. One of them has the drivers on it and you might have to disable your current one to get it to work off it.
I'm no genius :/ so what i said might be completely wrong >.<

Its not under Computer, Display Adapters, or System Devices?

If you have the drivers, just run it.

The problem is it tries to run the drivers on my video card, not the onboard. If I try to install the hardware manually, I can't choose the drivers because it physically can't find the hardware to put it on.

I tried uninstalling the video card and then installing the onboard drivers but it just put them on the actual card and now I have an Nvidia 7900 running on 6100 drivers.

If I remove the card from the system I can't view anything when I start up.

Might be possible that the onboard is disabled in the BIOS, I'd have done that when I put in an actual video card. You probably want to go at least look at that to check though from it just vanishing it doesn't sound like it.

    Edited for awful grammar >_>

Thanks for the help, but I'm giving up on it. According to that pcpitstop.com place, while my card is performing at 45% its potential for whatever reason, it still performs 144% better than my onboard graphics.

So I'll plug along with it

Oh, it was still plugged in? Take it out, plug your monitor in the onboard and there ya go. Unless you actually turned if off in BIOS it wont do it by itself, so just plugging into the onboard should work. I dont think youd need to install drivers for it either, rule of thumb, if you go to video properties and can change it to more then two resolution settings, and the icons on the desktop dont look like your playing a SNES, you should be fine.

No, it wasn't plugged in. I had tried physically taking out the card and attaching my monitor to the onboard video port. I would startup the computer and get no visual at all. I can't find an option in the BIOS to turn it on or off either, just one for the onboard sound (which is on).

An interesting development though, is that in RivaTuner it couldn't utilize my card's drivers because they were for Vista. So in the program it read my card as the onboard device, so apparently it IS there somehow.

It might be dead, if theres no BIOS option to turn it on/off, and it's not working when you plug it in, thats not a good sign. The reason it is on board is if something happened to a vid card, it will work without any drivers or anything. So if its not working, its not a good thing.
