Computer to Samsung 40' LCD 1080p

So I am trying to connect my computer to my new samsung LCD using DVI with a HDMI converter to plug into my TV. It worked for a little bit but the actual screen size was bigger than what could be displayed.

I went to my display properties to configure screen size and now I can't even get a picture. My TV displays "No Signal" Now I can't even get a display.

I called samsung and of coarse they don't support DVI only VGA. So I am looking for another solution.

    Thanks in advance :D

What resolution are you throwing at your TV through HDMI/DVI? 1920 × 1080?

Could be a problem with the conversion from DVI > HDMI. I hook my computer up to a 61" Samsumg DLP HDTV also, but I just use a standard DVI cable (video card and TV both have that input/output). I've read in some places that when converting from DVI to HDMI there can be some problems as you are finding out now.

My LCD only has HDMI, S-Video, and VGA no DVI. This is why I had to do a HDMI>DVI.

Where it is confusing me is it acutally worked except that the screen didn't fit, and then I changed the display resolution and now it says no signal no matter what I set it at...

also kinda on topic, if I get a DVI "Y" connector to split the signal to my computer and my LCD, will I lose a lot of quality of the video or would it be too minor to be noticable?

    thanks again for everyones reply

Check your settings for refresh rate, most LCD's only accept around 60-70hz, anything higher and you'll get the no signal error.

It only gives me the options of 60-75hz, I know that my monitor will do 85 but the TV doesn't give me that high of an option.

I am gonna double check when I get home hopefully it will work. Thanks :D
