Again, having computer issues. My screen stays black and won't light up. I get no results from my moniter and my LCD says No Signal Input. I turned it on like normal and tried typing in my computer password like normal, but no sound emits, so I'm assuming it's not booting up properly. Do you think this is a Power Supply issue? We had an ice storm Saturday and the power flickered off twice in a row, hard resetting it, which I'm thinking might have caused it to burn out or something... but my other computer devices work -- cd rom, all fans in and on the case, etc.

Hey baby. So you get no visual from any monitor you try, your devices(CD, fans, etc) all power up, but the PC won't boot? Sounds like your HD might be smoked.

Errr thats kind of hard to pin point.. but.

Does your computer to a POST test? Like before XP loads to you see a dos like screen? Does that show at all? Can you press the F2 or F12 button (or w/e you have) blindly to get into BIOS, does anything show up then? Chances are if nothing pops up your video card or monitor is dead.

Easy check, find a known working monitor and check to see if it works. If it works, you know the one you have is dead. If still nothing appears, are you using a vid card or onboard chip? If youre using an onboard, and nothing is showing up, youll prob have to find a cheap card just to see if it works. If youre already using a card, find a cheap card to swap out just to see if it works.

Since everything is working but the video, id narrow it down to one of those two things, but doesnt rule out others. Try those two and let me know, then we can try sumin else.

If after you youve tried the above, and want to try one more thing, turn the comp off, open it up and take out the battery on the mobo. UNPLUG THE POWER SOURCE FROM THE WALL. The battery is about the size of a nickle and just leave it out for about 30mins, pop it back in and turn it on and see i anything happens.

Try that. Also, if you have the computer open, try reseating things like RAM, cards, etc.

When you say password, do you mean Windows password, or do you have a BIOS password?
Echoing what Seph said, does your computer POST? IE, does it beep a few seconds after you turn it on? That beep in indicative that the motherboard passed its self test is why. To me it sounds like your motherboard is either fried, or is in some sort of protection mode because it almost got fried. From my experience, the suggestion I quoted should reset the board and let it power on again if that's the case.

Well this is similar to the problem that my roomate had (I posted it a couple months back, roughly) and it was his power supply. I went out to the store (and got robbed) and bought a new Power Supply and I'm going to try that first, to see if it works or not.

When I was referring to my "Password" I have an admin password right before windows completely opens up to keep people from logging in on it. If it were the "moniter" it should have let me put in the password and noises should have been made, but nothing happened.

I have another video card I can try it with, but it's over at my friends house and I'll test it with that.

My computer has had some problems booting up in the past, and I always left it on. Any time I rebooted it/turned it off, sometimes it would lock up when booting up. All I did was hit the reset button and it would usually go after that, or the time after.

And as for the post test/thingy, no, the screen is entirely black.

What type of comp is it, pre made or self built? If its self built, do you hear a beep, or have ever heard a beep when starting up? Prebuilt comps usually dont have an audio beep for some reason.

Yeah... I just tried out the power supply now and that wasn't the issue. Also, after about 5-10 seconds, I do hear a single beep (sounds normal).

I'm going to call up my buddy now and see if I can use his video card to test it and see if it works.

The computer is built by me entirely. Pretty good brand name stuff in there, too.

(Keep in mind I built this computer like... 2ish years ago)

Beep tells you its alive, so it seems thats ok. Id try a diff monitor first before you try a diff vid card though.

It's the video card. I just put in a GeForce TI4600(I think that's the one, pretty old, doesn't even have a power slot in it LOL but it was uber 5 years ago >.>) and it booted up just fine.

I'll put the old power supply in it and return that fucking rip off $100 thing back to Best Buy. Any suggestions on a good, relatively cheap (as in under.... 300$, 200$ if possible) video card for my system?

I used to be up to par on all this computer stuff. Now I wonder if I could even build one from scratch any more.

I googled your board and it said it was an AGP 4X/8X, so if it is, thats really the only thing that matters. All you should have to do is pop it in; neweggs return policy is good anyway.
