    Anyone had this problem? [ffxi]

Anyone ever had a problem were you skip every 3 seconds or so in the game? Like lag, but not lagging at all. I can run the game perfectly fine, I can even run fraps perfectly fine, but I skip every 3 seconds like I was lagging. This only started recently and its really starting to get on my nerves.

I dunno if this is something on my PC or something the game is doing or what. Just checking.

Same thing happens to me though I'm sure a good defrag can clear that up.

My old PC used to do that when it had another program in the background that didn't like the fact that FFXI had the main window. Try looking at your process and take out anything that shouldn't/doesn't need to be there. Same thing with your msconfig.

Also, defragging with a program like Diskeeper is really good for your PC, too.

    EDIT: Rofl Ryko...

Low memory? Small page file? Low disk space? Disk fragmented to hell? Very old video card? Virus scanner in the background? Something running while playing ffxi reading/writing to the hardrive in massive amounts?

gig of ram, ffxi only program on the hdd, no background apps running. i just decided that the card died from running the game at 2048x2048 for too long, and gave up on it, comp was old anyways.

I guarantee you that one of these are the problem. FFXI is a very CPU-oriented game, so your video card wouldn't cause little stops in the game like that.

all that runs on my PC. Firefox, disk defrag, etc dont run while I play obviously.

Hmm, some laptops have worse CPUs than those, and they run decently... if it's none of your processes, then I'm completely out of suggestions. USB peripheral perhaps?
