Anyone else have any other ideas ;;?
other wierd issue i had was POL runs incredibly slow for some reason on radeons when desktop res is 1024x768 <_<
but yea, if we can find this out maybe i can actually fix something on this comp make it alittle more usable.
that was my idea, get rid of the radeon and if that doesnt work, at least youre not using a radeonOriginally Posted by senoska
I dont think thats the issue.Originally Posted by Zalius
yea, that isnt exactly an option, theres gotta be something to fix on the system itself as it exists now due to the fact that it did work before.
FFXI uses alot of ram also on its own, did these problems come up after changing your game to 2048x2048? (Maybe not suddenly but a little after)Originally Posted by izembo
Also 1.8Ghz Celeron would definantly be chocking on area's like Dynamis/Auction house I'd think.. especially at that kinda res.
Also you both run radeon... lets see... have you recently upgraded your video card drivers?
If possible, go to your control panel, and reset your "Direct3D" options to "default", remove any optomization stuff you have for drivers, don't use Omega drivers, Rage3D optimized drivers etc, straight from ATI drivers.
See if that makes any changes.
I've once tried to "optmize" my video, and "one" of the settings with ATI will make FFXI run slow/stutter, I don't remember which its been a long time.
Another option makes FFXI... look like an old TV thats been beat to death making it discolored/lines/snowing/strangeness/slow also... no idea what that setting was either but its definantly something with the Direct3D, setting it to default using normal ATI drivers fixed it for me.
It only does that when stuff is loading in the backround for me... Like if I clicked a link and went back to FFXI while the link was loading and it would do that. If you have firefox and multiple tabs open it'll be laggyish.
Ya know what, I've never defragmented this PC...

how bad is this and can this be the cause of my problem?
I don't think it would be that much of a problem, my drives are waaaaayyy more fragmented and crazy looking, and runs FFXI fine, you should try what I mentioned above about the video card drivers. Actually my drives seem to fragment ... very slowly, I havne't done a defrag since october atleast and none the drives has really fragmented yet O_oOriginally Posted by senoska
If not uninstall and reinstall ATi drivers and see if that may fix the problem
Fixed, defragged, changed FFXI Priority, reinstalled video card drivers, and reinstalled direct x. worked great![]()
but you still have a radeon
its caused by windower, that thing really fucks up your system.
still using windower, dont have the problem.Originally Posted by khain
Think it was most possibly the radeon issue, because I've had something almsot simialr to stuttering due to one the "Direct 3d" options being altered.
And yes I got a radeon too, need replace it... but waiting for PCI 2.0 compatable video card first before I switch (I like to get things that support future upgrades I will do XD)
How do you live with a 70GB HDD.![]()
