I really hope Metroid and Mario Galaxy come off as big hits, I would definitely have to pick up the Wii if they do... along with Zelda/SSBB/SPM, that's a pretty kickass lineup.

I'm almost to the point where I'm willing to pick up a Wii myself and waste my HDTV on it. The white is seriously going to clash with all of the other black hardware. ><
Gran Turismo Prologue. Out this year, this will seal the deal on me giving ffxi the boot.

Give it the boot now.![]()
hehe well the 2 of the reserves (madden and metroid) I knew I was gonna make anyway, thats why i went back to the store by my job. guitar hero and nights i know i want to get anyway. I look at it as I forwarded $25 on 4 deposits for games i know i'd be getting in the future, and got more or less the same cash value coming back to me now by way of the controller and the memory card.Originally Posted by Deejay
just played metroid for at least an hour or so, took some time to adjust to the controls, totally not a fps that just so happens to be a metroid game, love it! just getting me more excited for MP3 in august hehe.
Are these reserve fees actually deposits that get credited toward the price of the game, or is it a fee you pay on top of the actual cost?Originally Posted by Oxyminus
it gets taken off the actual price, and if i for some reason decide i dont want any of those games, i can either get the $5 back or put it towards one of the other games.Originally Posted by Norelco
It's a deposit towards the game you want to play. You can deposit however much money you want, or pay off the whole thing. $5 is just the minimum for most games. (I think it's $25 deposit for halo limited edition, which is worth it just to ebay)
I saw the box for Halo3, I asked the guy if anyone would actually spend $130 on a video game, he said they had like 150+ reserves already... for some reason they were making the minimum deposit for metroid $10, either way, just comes off the price later. :D
GT5 Prologue is looking awesome. Can't wait for it to come out.
If only the full game would come out before hell freezes over. I forgot what interview it was, but I remember reading it takes a single dev something like 180 days for a single car, not including car damage if they end up putting it in.![]()
Yeah, well hopefully they have a ton of devs working on these simultaneously.Originally Posted by Funi

I wish I wasn't.Between all the other PS3 and 360 games coming out this year that I'm interested in, I'm going to be spending enough money as it is, lol.
they're testing $10 preorders to up pickup ratio on some games, metroid is one of them.
you'd be surprised that about 50% of preorders are never picked up and the money just sits in the system.
I did that once, tried to get the cash back a few months later and it sounded like it would be such a hassle i didn't bother. something about doubling the deposit is kinda meh, but theres not too many games i see myself looking to buy (besides the ones i put deposits down on obviously) so the ones i do, its a sure thing i want the game. and hell, i got a free GC controller and memory card out of it. I remember when I was younger, until about the time of the N64 when you put down a deposit you usually got something in return, like a shirt, poster, whatever. if you're gonna double the minimum deposit, should give the customer something in return. if it weren't for the fact that i was getting a free controller and memory card out of the deal, i probably wouldn't have been inclined to put down 4 deposits today, just the 2 i intended on doing when i walk in.Originally Posted by izembo
and <3 Metroid Prime, glad i finally got to place this. not even sure when I'll start RE4 now, and cant imagine what MP3 is gonna be like![]()
I assumed this was the reason GS/EB was doing preorders, because they know people forget/get pissed when a store doesn't get it in time while they can go grab it at bestbuy and so they go ahead and do it, but then the money they put down just goes to GS/EB's pocket and isn't returned. Free money 4tw... that's actually pretty smart of them (business wise... they're still dicks though heh.)Originally Posted by izembo
we still get free shit for preorders on games. it depends on the game though, its all up the manufacturer of the game, they provide that shit, not us. we had posters for spiderman3/transformers, and even had some pretty spiffy shirts for ninja gaiden sigma preorders.
Yeah I know, that part rocks about GS/EB... but the fact that they won't give you your money/game unless you pick it up within a couple of days is kind of stupid.

IGN has conducted a preview on Metroid Prime 3: Corruption on the Wii and herald it as the best ever playing first person game title on a console EVER - not to mention it is one of the Wii's best looking games. The second level of the demo is called SkyTown Elysia and it takes place on another planet entirely - one whose mix or organic and high-tech environments hovers in a spectacular sky setting. The objective is to "get the Aurora back online" and "reach the Seed." The level itself is comprised of a network of hovering railways that Samus can traverse by first locking onto a starting point with her grapple beam and then riding the railway like a dangling rollercoaster. It's awesome. While locked on with your grapple beam, you can look around the environment, target enemies in your path, and blow them away. At certain points, Aran will encounter cannons that, when in morphball form, blast her across chasms so that she may continue onward. Also quite awesome. Eventually, you encounter Steamlord, a huge flying robot that fires green ripple lasers your way. He's surrounded by minions, whom he repairs just as soon as Samus blasts them, so you'll have to take him down immediately.
We had our doubts that Prime 3 would come together. Having spent some quality time with the game, though, it is rapidly becoming our most anticipated Wii project. Retro Studios seems to have nailed the controls and (perhaps more than ever) the atmosphere. We simply cannot wait to see and play more.
