You all do realize that singstar has sold over 5 million copies right? Don't be close minded, its mildly popular in the US but its huge in Europe.

Over 8 games on a cheap system. I'd imagine a ton of those 5 million copies are the same people buying multiple copies.

I think Singstar is a great concept, just not a $500 dollar system. Throw it on the Wii or PS2 (obviously) and it's great.

Rock cost $200 as of right now, singstar cost $60 you assume that rock band is going to jump off to instant success but i doubt that it will with that kind of price point. Second, Singstar is much different game then rock band, using the eyetoy you can record your performances, post of them my singstar.net, and a bunch of other new upgrades from the PS2 version. To call a game unnecessary when its previous version sold that much is stupid, people won't pay $150 for rock band if they want to just use the mic, they will buy singstar instead.

I agree but nothing is a good concept on a $500 machine alone, you just gotta keep coming up with great concept till you eventually get enough that it is worth the price of entry, or get your price of entry down as fast as possible.

You do realize that you don't need to buy all the instruments right? And if you buy GH3, you don't even need to buy a guitar for rock band because the GH one will work just fine, so all you need to buy (again, if you want, the game fixes itself depending on what you plug in) are the drums and the mic, and even then you don't even need to buy any of them... I'll personally just get the drums because it seems very cool to play "Guitar Hero" with drums, but I might pick up some different instruments depending on how fun they are to play around with.

GH3 is $90 with game and instrument and rock band the game is $60 ............................ O Snap thats $150 without tax, do I win the prize? Also the rock band guitar has 10 buttons if I remember correctly so i'm not even sure if Guitar hero guitar will even work with rock band. Also funny how you seem to have made up your mind on Lair after 1 magazine review and Heavenly sword of an old build demo

Wrong, the GH guitar will work in rock band, they simply added the same buttons on the bottom just in case.

I didn't make up my mind on Lair and HS, but based on what i've seen/read so far they're not too stellar, and the fact they keep pushing those two titles back over and over again just signifies how they're either having problems with the software or the games are simply not ready to be released for the public, which is what I meant.

And as for Rock Band/GH guitar, all I meant is that if you plan on getting GH3 anyways, that's 1 less instrument you will have to purchase for Rock Band if you were to buy that as well (even though you don't need to buy any other instrument if you don't want to, which is why I don't understand why people are bitching at the high pricetag for all the instruments combined... just buy whatever you want, no one's forcing you to buy the combo.)

singstar is so not fun. seriously, if you're not intoxicated i dont see how you could pay for 90% of the songs you already have on you ipod considering you already know all the words to the ones you'll be singing anyway.
