It may not have been innovative, but it wasn't a bad game. I thoroughly enjoyed the game. When you say that Resistance copied every other FPS and Gears was so innovative, what did Gears do that was so innovative that hadn't been in any other game before?

If basis of your argument is "but it wasn't that bad" then I think we have a clear winner. Resistance wasn't "that bad" if you look at it in a positive light, sure. But when it all boils down, the game is easily forgettable whereas Gears was the opposite.

I still remember the first time I sprinted with my character in Gears. Twas' effin sweet looking. Really shows you how well the game was presented aesthetically. Gears really did a good job sucking you into it's world, with the muddy colors and shaking cameras. The active reloading was really underrated too, as it's probably going to be another fun staple of the franchise.

The cover system was sweet but RB6's was a little smoother. I was happy that Gears came out 3 weeks earlier, because had I played RB's first I probably would've thought Epic stole the idea from Ubisoft and just added it in. (ok not really but I would have been skeptical)

Gears got high scores cause of graphics ONLY, after few months of gears being out everyone can tell you the gameplay was flawed with overpowered weapons and other crap. Sometimes its really hard to see gameplay flaws until after the games been out for a while.

You're being delusional if you think it got high scores from graphix only. And even IF it did, so did Resistance, lol. Point is though, resistance ain't better lol.

A game does not get 9s-10s across the board because of graphics alone. Yes it had the best graphics ever at that time, and it is still top 3-5 in top graphics ever, but the game had so much more.

At the time it came out it had the most perfect cover system ever, and I definitely prefer it to R6V. You press 1 button and your covered, that you do not have to hold. And you press 1 button to get out, doesn't get much more seamless than that.

And what weapon is overpowered in Gears? Have you even played the game? I assume you are referring to the shotgun since people use it the most in online, but the Lancer (machine gun) works just as well if you know how to play the game. If you try and use multiplayer tactics in the single player game (Rushing with shotgun) you will get killed so fucking fast. I cannot think of 1 overpowered weapon in that entire game.

The reason I say that is because the only thing people talk about gears of war for is its amazing graphics. When fanboys first started the Gears vs Resistance war the FIRST point was the graphics. Lets be honest here what do you think gears of war is known for? Its cover system or the graphics? If you take away Gears great graphics do you really think it would have got a 9-10? This is the stupidest thing i've read all week... yes, Gears is known for graphics, but IT'S A MUCH BETTER GAME THAN RESISTANCE, AND WOULD STILL BE BETTER EVEN IF IT WAS USING PS2 GRAPHICS, as long as the gameplay was the same.

Sure, people were awed by GoW's amazing graphics (especially act 3 with the nighttime rains <3), but even without those graphics the game scored extremely high because of how well it's played, how natural the controller feels when you play it, and how amazing its renovations and innovations are.

Just stop making a fool out of yourself with these pointless posts, okay?

I played Gears for about 1 hour and I was bored to hell. It's just not that interesting of a game to me, even compared to older games like Doom3 and HL1/2. Plus it's on a console with no keyboard/mouse support, which is always lame for an FPS. Playing online with a handicap, even if everyone else is handicapped, is just no fun.

As for a run and cover innovation, I don't see it at all. They've been in Rainbow 6 since the beginning... Maybe not with all the blur and graphics, but they were there. In the end it's just another futuristic kill-the-aliens FPS game, but with extremely good graphics and decent gameplay. Still would be better with a keyboard/mouse, but console FPS players need a break I guess.

I haven't played Resistance, and don't really plan on it, so I can't compare the two. I can say, however, that Gears looked much more polished, but other then that it's just another standard FPS in my opinion. Thing is that even after playing multiplayer in Gears, I'd still rather play source on PC. Hell I'd rather play Rainbow 6 PC, released almost 10 years ago, over Gears. If other people liked the gameplay so much, that's nice, but I didn't find it that great at all.

I thought the Eternal Sonata demo sucked pretty bad.... turned me off completely.

As for Gears, it's not an FPS, and I still prefer playing with the analog sticks over a keyboard/mouse combo, but I never got into PC shooters anyways.
Oh and if you played fit or an hour and gave up, then you haven't tasted a tenth of what GoW is all about.

How is Gears a standard FPS when it's not even a FPS. That's like me saying Madden 08' is a standard rugby game.

Like expected, 360 is bring out very mediocre RPGs that people anticipate because there aren't any on the console. Seems sad to just WANT an RPG for the 360 no matter how good or bad it is.

I really hope Blue Dragon is good lol, but i'll wait until some people get it and give their feedback on it (not a magazine..). It sucks that Gamefly won't let you rent it though, since it's 3 cds. The Eternal Sonata demo just made me want to puke, and Lost Odyssey seems to be the only RPG worth waiting for as of right now, and even then we don't really know anything about it other than the hopes (fingers crossed, lol) that it will be an FF-type game, and depending on its success might start a new series of RPG games.

As for the FPS/GoW comment, it's funny really, seeing how Gears is a 3rd person shooter..

What's been 'said'? Overall, gears is better then resistance. There shouldn't be any argument, but we have people calling it a standard FPS when the game isn't even first person.

Actually after playing it for 2-3 times it wasn't so bad (Nene's tower anyways, the ruins one in the forest sucked ass..) but still not what I was expecting.

Same thing goes for Heavenly Sword actually, played the demo like 10 times now and every time I do I appreciate the unique battle style that they made for the game more and more, rather than trying to compare it to DMC or God of War.
