It's insane, my local EB has like 10 elites in stock every time I come in, they practically beg you to buy one now.

Basically the same for us lol, we have 7 elites in stock, 1 Wii, 2 60 GB ps3's and 3 80 GB ps3's as of when I left work today at 5pm.
Anyone buying those 80's over the 60? Lol it's such a bad deal compared to the 60 imo at this point.
The biggest drawback is the emulation backwards compat, and then they rip you off for 20 gigs and a mediocre game for a hundred bucks? I see it as less of a system because it doesn't have the PS2 guts.
You put to much faith in people, I even try to push the 60 gigs more than the 80's... but... people are retarded and go for the bigger is better approach and ignore all that I have to say.Originally Posted by Po
Oh I know it. I was just saying its my opinion the 60 is the better deal, 80 is a rip off, glad you feel the same way.
Of course people always go for the biggest and "best" even though it isn't the best. I'm glad I got my 60 gig when I still could. 80 gig onry this fall lol.
Yeah I try to push the better Ps3's but well yeah, people suck. Still though, alot of the people ask for the 60 gigs straight up and dont even ask about them, so I figure most have done their research.
Worst comes to worst though.. I'd just pick up an external harddrive if I ever needed space since the Ps3 works well with other brands of hardware.
People are stupid.
Pretty hard to call Motorstorm mediocre,
There was also a video clip from jeuxfrance.com with about 4 minutes of cockpit view gameplay footage from GT5 Prologue. Looks really cool...
And we all know Lair is gonna be shit unless they change the control scheme, lol
Warhawk was never touted as being gods gift to shooter games. It'll still be a good game, I personally was expecting it to score around 75 across the board, one 6.5 from one mag won't mean much in the long run. I'm sure Warhawk will still feed the hungry PS3 people needing a solid multiplayer shooter game.
A couple reviews I found on Warhawk:
http://www.nextgenireland.com/warhawkreview.html
Graphics 9.7
Audio 9.3
Gameplay 9.5
Replayability 9.7
TOTAL 9.6
Sure it's some irish gaming mag/site, so don't weigh in too heavily on this one, it's also a Sony console magasine over there. Not a shot towards irish folks, it's just an unknown reviewer to majority of gamers(myself included, lol).
Another review on Warhawk by Yahoo! Games in the Uk:
http://uk.videogames.games.yahoo.com/1e ... 0921e.html
They give it 4 out of 5.
Warhawk is gonna pull in pretty solid reviews, look for it to land between 75-85% I'm gonna speculate when the dust settles. Far from Game of the year material, but it'll still be good fun.The action itself should be very familiar indeed to those who’ve played any of Electronic Arts’ Battlefield series on PC or Xbox 360. Gamers login and join one of two teams – engaging in a range of military campaigns from simple deathmatches through to territory grabs and the ubiquitous capture-the-flag. From there on in, it’s a case of running about and blasting opponents, or jumping into tanks and jeeps and zooming around the landscape, or else taking to the skies in the eponymous Warhawks, where the air-to-air dogfighting is so cool it could’ve been a standalone game in its own right.
Key to this game’s enjoyment is its arcade-style approach. Extra weapons, ammo and bonus equipment take the form of large icons, making them easy to spot from afar – so no squinting into the distance for a glint of that sniper rifle you want. Warhawk is also exceptionally lenient when it comes to flying into objects at speed and falling from great heights; the emphasis here is on multiplayer combat, and the only sudden death situations you’ll come across involve being heavily outgunned by an online opponent.
It feels good, it feels right. It’s as close to a massively multiplayer virtual warzone as we’ve ever seen on console and you can’t help but be impressed by the scale of what’s going on around you. You may be engaged in an urban shootout on foot, with team members manning the anti-aircraft guns by your side, Warhawks duelling in the skies, while other comrades jump into jeeps to speed off into the distance, taking the fight to the enemy base.
In terms of audio-visuals, Warhawk is one of the better-looking PS3 offerings. The futuristic, pseudo-alien setting has allowed Incognito to create some memorable battlezones – from a blasted city in the sky to a stunning island area where the land masses tower into the heavens. Everything moves smoothly and the amount of detail – especially when viewed from on high – is incredible. Audio is excellent too, with Warhawk being the first PS3 game we’ve encountered that features full, uncompressed 7.1 surround sound (HDMI only).
Also impressive is the way that Warhawk’s arenas can be changed to accommodate the number of players in the game. Server operators can scale down the map so the action takes place in specially selected areas – great for when there’s only four to eight gamers in a current session.
It’s difficult to be at all negative about this game, because Warhawk is just so much fun and hugely playable. The only criticism that can be levelled at it is that there is absolutely no single-player option whatsoever so, obviously, leave this well alone if you have no broadband connection. Otherwise this is highly recommended whether you go for the game with bonus extras on Blu-ray disc, or else download the cheaper version from the PlayStation Store.
i dont think we've sold a single 80gb ps3 yet, we sell the 60gb like hotcakes though. and as for elites, yea, we almost always have a good bit of them in as well, heck we even have a used one![]()
Wii is #1 in sales now.
I really don't have the extra cash, I mean i could put it on a credit card, but I will be getting a PS3 at some point and with what everyone's saying about the 60gb being so much better it's bugging me if i should just get it and deal with it or wait like i have planned to and get the lesser, more expensive system.
Honestly, in my opinion, there is no reason to buy a PS3 right now. I'd wait a year. They won't run out of stock tommorow.
No, but from what everyone say's they are getting rid of that emotion engine thing, which is apparently better. I still don't know much about that or it's effect on the ps3 at all. Maybe that'll be may daily research while at work.
I read somehwere that there will be a 40 gig PS3 coming out with no backwards compatiblity for $399. I think it was in Game Informer.
The Emotion Engine simply means you have the core PS2 inside the PS3, making backwards compatibility seamless. The newer models remove the emotion engine (to cut costs) and instead rely on emulation, which is easily done since the PS3 is leaps and bounds more powerful than the PS2. The only problem with emulation is that it doesn't automatically translate to full backwards compatibility, and Sony has to release patches to support more games. The plus side is that the PS3 now has upscaling on older games, so they're going to look much prettier (not sure if upscaling was specific to emulation or not).Originally Posted by Skyylya
To put it in perspective, the Xbox360 uses emulation to play the original Xbox games, although that was a no brainer for them because the original Xbox only had like 5 must-own games, 2 of which were named Halo. System wise, the difference between the 80gig and 60gig model is negligible, while the price difference, 100 dollars, is pretty important. I'm personally tempted to grab one before they're gone at $499, but I can't shake the feeling that if I just wait until MGS4 comes around in 4-6 months, I might be looking at a $450 or even $400 unit.

Metroid next week, and I'm starting to get really excited. Don't get me wrong, I like how the older Metroids were exploration games with a heavy emphasis on back tracking, but Metroid Prime 3: Corruption seems to be more in the vein of Halo than before, with voice-acting, a cinematic story, etc. Just finished reading a preview on IGN, which called the game the new flagship for graphics and control on the Wii, which sounds pretty promising.
Upscaling was a thing in the 1.90 patch i believe. Unless it was for DVD and BD only.
Maybe i'll just bite the bullet and wait til next year when i'm making a bit more money.Originally Posted by Xavier
As for metroid, I can't wait. I'm expecting this to be probably the best game ever made (as far as i'm concerned). All of the video's about gameplay, the controls and just the story of the game in general all seem fantastic. I just found a preowned copy of MP2 and am trying to get through that before the 28th.
Question on that, I just read online that the wii is compatible for gamecube hardware, I haven't tried but, you can put gamecube discs into the wii?
