would imply that non-fanboys would say PS3 is rolling in titles, which would imply you saying it was rolling in titles.

TBH they should have done this from the start. Why pay $500 for a PS3 with another PS2 built in if you could pay $400 for the PS3 and $100 for a PS2? Especially since most early adopters already have a PS2.

You can put in backwards compatibility later--a year or two down the road--when people who are buying it are less likely to already have a ps2. Call it an "elite" and you'll probably have sucker fanboys buying a 2nd ps3 just to "have the best model".

How rare is the 360's red ring? I seem too scared to buy one just because of it red ringing on day 1. I just don't want to feel as if I wasted 300-400(?) dollars on the 1st day and have to send it back for a couple days. I know it wouldn't on day 1 but shit..too much stuff fucks up in the day and age. Plus I wouldn't touch online anyways so excluding the xbox live stuff if I bought it with the 360.

oh we've sold plenty, i think we sold like 5 or so first day as well, but the thing is, we sell 1 they send 2 to replace them. and after the first week well the demand kinda went V

It happens pretty often in the first 3 months, our store offers addition protection for that kinda shit for extra money if you wanna avoid the whole sending it back for a month thing to microsoft. It's for a year, but it seems most of them that have that problem happen in the first 3-6 months.

That was prior to the new heat sink and 65nm CPU that's out now. I'm sure it's a lot lower now.

I bought mine at the beginning of July and it hasn't done anything fishy yet (except freeze a couple times on NHL08, which is I hear is a common problem), but I periodically like to feel the back vent to see how it is and it runs fucking HOT. It's only a matter of time before it RRoD's on me, and with my store's warranty it's OCE for the first year, then after that they send it off. Basically, between Halo 3/CoD4/GH3, I'm just waiting for the RRoD to happen... at which time I'll just bring it back in, swap it out for one of the new 65nm ones, and I'll be golden.

As per your question, in my humble opinion, the 360 will really thrive in the long term because of XBL. Yes, it does have some killer single-player games out right now (and inevitably some to come), but with the way that the gaming market will be going in the future, XBL will be a huge, huge selling factor and over gameplay attraction. So, yeah, you can buy it now for the single-player/offline games, and then have the option of enabling XBL in the future should you want to.

you should be fine, and like it has been said, the red ring issue is covered for 3 years from ms anyways, cant really beat that warrenty :/
