How rare is the 360's red ring? I seem too scared to buy one just because of it red ringing on day 1. I just don't want to feel as if I wasted 300-400(?) dollars on the 1st day and have to send it back for a couple days. I know it wouldn't on day 1 but shit..too much stuff fucks up in the day and age. Plus I wouldn't touch online anyways so excluding the xbox live stuff if I bought it with the 360.

As per your question, in my humble opinion, the 360 will really thrive in the long term because of XBL. Yes, it does have some killer single-player games out right now (and inevitably some to come), but with the way that the gaming market will be going in the future, XBL will be a huge, huge selling factor and over gameplay attraction. So, yeah, you can buy it now for the single-player/offline games, and then have the option of enabling XBL in the future should you want to.

Yeah not like I wont touch XBL completely but once I feel the need to kill some people I will. Also how much is the monthy fee? I heard it was somewhere in the 10-20's+

Just take care of it. I've had mine since launch day and I have never had any kinds of problems at all. Spring for the intercooler, it helps. Keep a fan blowing on your 360 whenever it's on, lay it down horizontally, and every month or so take a dust buster to the back of it for the dust. Just do it, you own't have any problems.

Do those intercoolers make the systems put off less heat? I was thinking of picking one up for my PS3 if it did (360 and ps3 put off about the same amount of heat)

they do, unfortunately both ps3 fans kinda suck. the one that clips on the end doesnt really do jack shit, and the one that wraps the whole way around doesnt shut off automatically, you have to hit the switch every time to turn it off.

Does the turn off turn on one work though? I'm tired of my room getting hot everytime I play my ps3 for like 6hrs.

me personally, i just keep a regular floor fan(one of those like 2ft square things) blowing over it whenever i have it on, haha.

I'll have to pick one up then, I was just worried, I heard of 360 fans melting onto the 360 rofl. But I guess the ps3 doesnt hit melting temp.

When I got the 360 Intercooler when I bought my first xbox, the fucking thing made my 360 get the rrod... when removed though, it worked fine again... haven't put the damn thing on ever since, I don't trust it anymore heh.

well this last 360 (4th one? ) is placed vertical, and with an intercooler, and it has been working just fine (past the 3 month mark) but then again we dont play it that often.

a friend PS3 just stopped reading discs one day, out of the blue, other than that it works.

thats actually because of the loose connectors on the 360 intercoolers, it loostens over time and eventually makes it not work anymore. the 360 ones you end up having to replace every so often because they arent a tight connection anymore, so the system doesnt get enough power to run the system, and RROD's. it fixes as soon as you take off the cooler tho.

Did you get the nyko one or the pelican one? I have the nyko one and it's worked good for me so far. Best thing I think you can do is the vaccuming thing though. Old trick I learned from my PS2 and it only takes about 10 seconds to do. I also have a small floor fan blowing on my 360 when it plays too.

If you get the full year subscription it works out to less than $4/mo. I'm sure you can manage that. =P

As for the intercoolers, I heard they caused alllllllll kinds of problems, so I passed.

That's smart, Microsoft should do the same thing and get it down to one SKU. Most people don't wanna research the difference between 5 different SKUs.

Yep, which isn't too bad (256MB card, HDMI, wireless controller, 5 XBLA games for $279). They should drop the Elite at worst, especially when the $400 PS3 hits lol.
