1 thing, I forgot to ask was did you give the games a try?, I mean im no Halo/MGS expert, but I know the overall story, gameplay, and have dabbled in it just to see what the fuss was all about

And for the record, I don't LIKE every game I mentioned, nor did I say they would all be good. But he might have shown interest in one of them, so I listed pretty much all the announced games coming out by this time next year (except maybe MH3). I expect people who actually own a PS3 to know about games coming up for their system, and yet I can't know anything about the systems I own, right? I never really understood the halo hype myself either. Like others the first real FPS I played was Doom, great fun game, but never really got into the 2nd one. Then Unreal came out, fuuucking epic of a FPS, and then UT came out and it was even better. I wasnt and im still not a huge FPS fan, I play for fun and dont really last too long so when when Halo was released a few years later, I just overlooked it, plus didnt have a XBOX.

I finally got an XBOX, and got the only games worth playing, Fable, Gaiden and Halo; played Halo and it was sooo horrible, ok it had a story, but wtf cares about a story for a shooter? Gameplay was so slow, it was just unbearable, it feels like your walking around shooting people, what skill is there in that?

UT2k3 finally came out and I just orgasmed, fast action, great gameplay elements and needed to have great hand eye coordination with good reflexs to adapt to the fast action of the game. After playing IT3 and playing Halo 2 afterwards..... wow, felt like I was walking in mud and just felt like there was no skill to it.

To me atleast, UT2k3's Bombing Run is the best FPS ever.

As far as MG goes, I played from the original NES game and MGS. I liked the NES one ok, MGS I didnt really like, but I played through it, thought id try MGS2, but I stopped after a few hours cuse I couldnt bear it. I just couldnt put up with it any more. MGS4 looks pretty, and more attractive to me than Halo, but I would never buy a system for it, or buy the game at full price.

Its more widespread then you think, I know alot of people that play MOTG or Yui-Gi-Oh but hide it from there friends, because they don't want to seem like a loser. But shit I'm 22 and pretty much have a wife who as accepted my gaming loserness so I don't give a shit anymore

I've got a question for everyone here. What makes a system worth purchasing?

For me? The 360 was my logical next step when FFXI on the PS2 became too much to deal with anymore (though i easily fixed the DRE problems i had in about 20 mins ...) and was quite happy with it with JUST FFXI and Oblivion on it for some time.

Actually, for a VERY long time my 360 saw nothing played on it other than FFXI. For me that was a 100% improvement over the PS2, noticeable (quite understandably) from the moment i switched. Since taking an indefinite 'break' from FFXI i have spent time with a few other games and had quite a bit of fun. Bioshock of course, the CoD4 Beta, and many XBox1 games that i never had the opportunity to play.

So for me the 360 was easily worth every dime spent, as were the weeks it took me to track down a store with one in stock (and this was February of last year...) Lately, there have been less games on that i have played (in general actually) but that has a lot to do with the fact that the Red Ring of Death is always scaring the piss outta me. But, meh, i will play it till it drops.

The Wii was actually a gift for the lady, but of course i have played my fair share of Zelda, Sports, and even a few others like Elebits. The worth here is justified solely by the fact that my 4 year old daughter plays it more than i ever have. (We now have a total of 60+ Miis that she has created, all with names like "1313h1j3" and "ytttttytyt")

She can STILL hand our asses to us in Boxing... There are games coming down the line that i will likely have to wrench the Wiimote from her hands for though, just waiting.

The PS3? First of all, perhaps a vital bit of info that it was a gift and not something i bought myself (though could have... just not sure i WOULD have.) And yes, of all three systems right now it is sitting quiet the most. Warhawk was/is fun but the massive amount of issues with it at launch killed my enthusiasm for a bit. I hope the upcoming update/expansion helps turn that around. Other than that? Not much at the moment. Still, it is worth owning it, just can't say it was worth buying since i didn't. I am excited for MGS4, and FFXIII proving that the game looks fun when all the details are out.

So, all of the consoles i have (including my DS and PSP) are worth having to ME, but i am sure that in all of my reasons above any one of you could glean a reason why it wouldn't be for YOU. No regrets here. I am having fun.

Oh, and i don't know that i would call myself a "serious gamer" or rather i don't know that i would care to? I have no HD just yet, and while the desire is there to get one, there is no sense of urgency.
