Wal-Mart may have been the first to tempt HD-fence-sitters with a $100 HD-A2 player (however limited), but it looks like it's not the only one, with Best Buy now also listing the very same player for the impulse buy-inducing price of $99.99. Of course, it's sold out online, so you may be better off trying your luck at your local store. Not surprisingly, the HD DVD PR folk are keen to talk up this recent spat of price reductions, including the still decent $197 price for the A2 at Circuit City and Amazon, and Sears's Black Friday price of $169 for the newer HD-A3 model, which also comes with two movies bundled in the box (not to mention the five free mail-in movies available with the purchase of any of the players).
Too bad neither of those players are capable of displaying 1080p. Sure there is the whole argument of you can't tell the difference, but if I have a 1080p television then I want to be getting everything I can out of it.
Unless the argument that you can't tell the difference is wrong, what are you getting out of your 1080p television?Originally Posted by Pyro
I doubt those $99 dollar HD-DVD players are targeted at hardcore audiophiles that have a TV large enough with 1080p and are able to tell the difference. They're probably after the 720p 42" and below people who will probably dictate who wins this HD war. Should be interesting what the bluray people do to counter.Originally Posted by Pyro
EDIT: I have a 42" 1080p TV and can not tell the difference between 720p and 1080p video unless I'm trying really hard and standing really close. I can tell the difference easily though when I'm browsing the net and reading text off the TV though.

Anyone who says 720p and 1080p show a big difference in overall quality is either staring too hard or a complete fag. You can't tell if you're not looking for it.
VF5 is a blast online. I have not noticed any lag as of yet and it brings back memories of playing in the arcades and shit talking ensuing. Recommend if you're a gamer that enjoys fighters! Can be bought for $29.99 from CC soon too!
Whats CC? I'm thinking about buying it like right now lol. Still not sure though.Originally Posted by Semitry
Circuit City. You'll need to get a $10 off coupon at like Burger King though for the 29.99. It'll be 39.99 otherwise.Originally Posted by Deejay
Also if you order COD4 from them you'll get COD3 to trade in at EB or give away as a gift.

What you're saying is true Kaylia, but check out that last video.
Stuff like that should NEVER happen.
Friend found another Super Mario Galaxy Review:
A few sites have reviewed it already,
the latest is EuroGamer who gave it a great 10/10,

Super Mario Galaxy is an embarrassment. It's an embarrassment for platform games. It's an embarrassment for adventure games. It's an embarrassment for Nintendo and an embarrassment for the Wii. What have we all been playing at in the ten years since Super Mario 64 came out? This is what gaming ought to be like.
Bright, bold, unrepentantly loony, Galaxy is everything you wanted it to be. It's beautiful and inventive. It's pure-blood Mario without being a retro indulgence. It's a stiff platforming challenge and a free-wheeling romp. It's the best thing on Wii, and the best traditional game Nintendo has made in a decade. The only thing about it which dulls your enjoyment is the memory of all the mediocre games you've had to play in the meantime.

best game on the wii? i don't know if i'd go that far, it's well done but it isn't as good as they're hyping it to be. ive played it for a few hours now and it's nothing that would make me buy it. i'd give it more of an 8/10.
graphics are 10/10
sound is like 9.5/10
controls are like 6/10
