It's amazing what kind of conspiracies and random theories 360 fanboys make about mgs4 lol.. it won't move, if you wanna play it then get a ps3.

Oh and it probably will sell that much ... The PS3 userbase is more "hardcore" I should imagine, like the 360 and UNlike the wii. And since MGS4 is being released worldwide simultaneously, I don't see why they won't achieve a nice number (and even if it won't be that large, it will be up there.)

Even though it might be fun getting achievements with mgs4, although SOME PEOPLE claim that achievements are lame and are a waste so WHY BOTHER mirite? >.>

Maybe cus the forums are filled with 360 fanboys that refuse to buy a ps3 regardless of whether buying it is justified or not? Just a wild guess.

MSG4 is suppose to be a worldwide release, so 1M during a worldwide release in one day is possible but i would say it will take a week. Anyway this assistant producer seems to be shooting off at the mouth, this kind of statement doesn't sound like something Konami would approve off.

What does that have to do with anything. There are what, 4 million PS3's in homes? You really expect that 1 in ever 4 PS3 owners are going to buy MGS4 the within the first 24 hours? When not even 4% of all PS2 owners bought MGS3 worldwide? Look at the numbers.
Even Halo barely had 1 million players on xbox live within the first 24 hours (out of 8 million subscriptions). That's 1 in every 8 for the biggest videogame of all time.

But you're right. I'm just being a close-minded 360 fanboy for even daring to think that metal gear won't sell 1 million opening day.

Even so, Metal Gear has never been a power-house sales wise(compared to other AAA titles). Halo 1 outsold MGS3 it on a console (lolxbox) that had a measly 25% of the user base PS2 had. How could anyone expect MGS4 to not only crush MGS3's sales, but do so on a console (PS3) with 1/12th(being generous) as many people who actually own it? Doesn't make sense.

Only way for 1 million to be sold on day 1 is if Sony poured millions into advertising and hype even then it would be cutting it close if everything went perfectly planned, since people are just poorly informed of what games are out or just can't afford the money. Whoever said the 1 million on day 1 was probably just speaking out of his ass anyway.

Lets put it things in perspective, the 360 has not had a million seller in a WHOLE MONTH aside from Halo and Gears of War (holiday month). Not even Madden 08 did a million. SMG/Wii Sports probably will this month but the Wii has had a million seller in a month yet either.

The people on this board seriously overestimate how popular the MGS series is. While it is a critically renowned game, it is not a genre that everyone enjoys. It doesn't really appeal to a large audience and honestly I think a lot of fans of MGS type games would probably have purchased a 360 over a PS3 anyway just because there is more of a selection of those type of games on the 360. While MGS4 is a game I would consider buying a PS3 for, but in no way do I believe that is in general a console selling game. It's unrealistic to expect it to sell 1m in the first day.

MGS4 has absolutely zero chance of selling 1 million copies on Day 1. It'll be an amazing game, no doubt, but its not going to generate the type of hype as Halo, nor does it have anywhere close to the same install base to work with.
