Nintendo was trying to make things safer and more friendly than the internet in general. A large part of why the general public (read: many of the people Nintendo is selling the Wii to) doesn't want to play online games is because of cuntrags online who call other people online cuntrags.

Nintendo excuse to not have a decent online system is weak and unworthy. There are dozens of ways to limit that kind of stuff, manually even. For example, if Halo had no voicechat, it would hardly be vulgar.

I have yet to hear a single argument that has justified it. Anyone who isn't a Nintendrone doesn't like it.
