You can get alot more then 30 hours in most shooting games if they have online play, talking especially about cod4 and halo3 atm, people play it like crack, idk much about halo but I know cod people do for sure.

Good/Great FPS games have the longest life, imo. RPG games are a very close second, just because of they general take 30-60 hours to complete, but very few have immediate replay value (people tend to go back and play them again later, for story).

Any type of game can have the longest shelf life depending on how you feel about it. If you like strategy then thats lasts the longest, if you like Street Fighter 3rd strike that lasts the longest.

Case in point, the past 2 nights I played Crackdown and Gears, my 2 fave 360 games of this past year, of very different genres. I doubt many other people are still playing Crackdown, but i love it, and sandbox games were not mentioned in any of your lists.

It's all about what you like best.

I'm complaining about Wii's lack of online content compared to Xbox360's, so yes, that's exactly what I'm saying. They both allow you to buy old games(though Xbox are less than 5 years old and aren't mostly easy to obtain roms) but that's all the Wii has.

Not sure if it was directed at me or Exo, but that's what I said in my first post. Was talking about offline content, because online can often extend play time a lot if you get addicted

Downloading music is illegal too. I don't think it's the fact that you can find the roms though, it's just that Nintendo loves to repackage all of their old shit and charge us for it. VC isn't exactly the first time we've been able to relive old NES games.

How are they different than every other company that makes videogames? How many times have you bought the same Final Fantasy game on a different system from Square?

And the Virtual Console is not exclusively Nintendo games, nor Nintendo systems, so why single out Nintendo as "loving to repackage all of their old shit and charge us for it."

Square has been full of shit lately too, but at least in their case, at least they include new shit or graphics in their ports.

Nintendo literally just repackaged the same 10 to 15 year old game without having it anything to do with the Wii console(unlike what they promised us in trailers), it's not a port. VC is a piece of crap. Even if you bought a rom, there are cases where you get to at least play online with them. VC is actually worse than paying for roms.

The rate of releases is pretty pathetic too, just considering the first-party games Nintendo has rights to. n64 games might just be worth purchasing though, because some 10 year old school computers might be unable to run those.

It's also unfortunate you'll have to buy each Mario game separately because they'll never be an All-Stars release, and you can count out a Kirby Superstar because they rather sell it on the DS.

And outside the VC? VOTAH GAEMS.


It's unfortunate, really. I could go on how almost all the (current) channels of the Wii are disappointments. It's basically come down to waiting for the occasional good third-party(handful a year so far) and the next Mario/Zelda/Metriod/All of the above in a fighting game to come out.

If your argument is that you don't feel like the VC games are worth your money, nobody is forcing you to buy them.

Microsoft offers a service where you can download demos, trailers, movies, etc, except it comes at the cost of a Gold subscription to Xbox Live. I don't even know what I'm paying for it now, $50-70 a year? The Silver Membership is absolutely worthless for content too.

Nintendo doesn't offer that service, and its online system is free, and much shittier. Both Nintendo and Microsoft offer a service where you can download roms of their back-catalog of games, with nearly identical pricing.

People get what they pay for.

Which games have you paid money for on the VC? 99% of the games on there is something I've already played or replayed in the past couple years. Just because the games are old doesn't all of a sudden mean they're more fun than the ones coming out now. I'd rather have xbox live Marketplace and download new arcade games than sit and hope that my favorite old school nintendo game gets put onto the VC. Especially when I can get them for free online or in a store 8 bucks on a cartridge.

Playing old-school games is fun and all but I don't know how much of it you can actually take before it starts to get boring again.

And Po, I'm not complaining i'm just stating that rehashing old content isn't anything new or innovative. At the end of the day, it's still the same old shit on a shiny new system.

I don't think anyone ever called it innovative, but I do think it is a cool feature if you choose to utilize it. It's not like Nintendo is an evil entity for creating the VC like BRP makes it sound. I love my Super Nintendo and I love collecting old games and stuff for it, but they aren't guaranteed to work forever, or always hold a save without the internal battery dying, while the VC does guarantee that.

There are pros and cons like anything else. It is there for people who want it, and that is a good thing ultimately.

tbh the Sony downloadable games have been like the best. Mortal Kombat 2, Stardust HD, Everyday Shooter, and this new game Pixeljunk Monsters looks really good.
