Thank god for no random encounters.
Thank god for no random encounters.
frankly, I would play any RPG, with any battle system if this was the case. Random encounters make me so angry.Originally Posted by Xavier
Is Resistance still worth playing?
Those announcements about R2 have piqued my interest.
Why play/buy resistance when wheres so many better FPS out there.
Hell, get Rainbow Six if you haven't played it.
Random encounters have the damning effect of absolutely killing any desire I would normally have to explore an environment, on top of just being flat out annoying when they occur every 5 steps.Originally Posted by Elcura
If the developers want to pace their game where as long as I kill every 75% of the visible enemies I encounter I'll be of the proper level to proceed, fine by me. But don't make me spend 3 minutes fighting for every 3 feet I take.

I enjoyed Resistance, but at this point I'd suggest renting it instead. You'll be able to beat the single-player campaign easily in a full day, and like it was already mentioned, there are better FPS games if you want to play online.
The Resistance community is still strong, 2 Map Packs + updates, the game is still funOriginally Posted by Po
Deejay is right that there are other FPS's that bring more to the table, but Resistance has been out for almost 1+ year
The Single campaign is fun, replay value of single campaign helps out the multiplayer aspect by giving exclusive skins for your character
The Godly Developer which is Insomniac Games, does regular play multiplayer with its playerbase every Friday @7pm PST
Insomniac Games even does promotional stuff like giving free codes to people who sign up with myresistance.net on hidden skins, or cross promotional skins of its other franchises (like Clank Backpack, Ratchet's Gravity Boots, Ratchet's Wrench)
Its fun playing as the Chimera ("Alien Race"), seeing through solid objects, or play with the kick ass weapons
You will literally laugh your ass off when you kill people with an Auger (the shots go through walls), especially in 1 hit Custom (Unranked) games,
If you think Resistance 2 looks good and want to try it, play through Resistance 1, the story isnt RPG lvl, but its not 1 liners/gruntss like say Gears of War/Unreal Tournament 3
Graphics wise, the game is not super top notch, but it was a good start, and 2 looks insane
My impressions were that it was a fairly above average game all around, story, gameplay, etc. I never had the opportunity to play online so I can't really comment, but I think saying its "above average" does the game justice. I thought its story was actually fairly good and a lot of its environments and enemy encounters were quite large. The gameplay itself though was fairly standard FPS stuff.
Thanks for the great responses guys.
I know there's a ton of other FPS out there. Mainly what I currently play of that genre is COD4 and Gears of War still, so I wanted to try something on the PS3 side of things.
I think I'll give it a GF.

rumour mill is reporting we'll see a Devil May Cry 4 demo on both the PSN and XBOX marketplace on Jan 31st.
Rumour mill is also bustling slightly with Crysis 1.5 on the PS3, and no version for the 360 citing "Technical reasons"

console warz!
In before: "PS3 limitations", "Fuck you Fanboy!"
That rumor comes from PlayStation World UK, and if they port it to consoles, it would be to make money, lose it. You do know Crytek is owned by EA right? lol Do you think they want to be owned like Epic with UT3?Originally Posted by Mysterio

Not saying it wouldn't, it probably well in some form, but exclusive? EA?
360 limitations, you heard it here first.
orz
oh and one more thing...
I doubt I'm the only one excited about CAPCOM remaking the original Bionic Commando NES classic?>
I'm not talking about the next-gen one where you're swinging in full 3D. This is a remake of the original with the classic 2D gameplay but now in stunning 3D. Oh and they added a little something called 2 player co-op. Hitting a PSN store and XBOX marketplace near you for probably pretty cheap.

technically the ps3 does have some hardware features the 360 doesnt, just nothing has really been made by a non-1st party developer to take advantage of it.
either way, guess we just wait and see.
