Im actually quite surpised on how well the PSP is selling now. It used to sell like 10 a week, now it's like 100k or so. Just goes to show what FF can do to a system.. and monster hunter helps too I guess.

Nintendo has always led the portable gaming sector and there has never been a serious contender, until now.

I'd hesitate to call it a serious contender when its consistently outsold by at least 2:1, but at least it hasn't been a complete failure.

Anyways, regarding the PS3, I've always thought Sony's master plan was to introduce more than a gaming console, and they gave us a media centre. Yeah, some gamers can't afford it or didn't want it, etc. etc. but phase one is now complete. Let's see what awaits for phase two.

Frankly, I don't know how selling 3.82 million PSPs compared to 8.5 million DSs, in America, in 2007, is giving them a run for their money. Especially when 27 of the top 30 handheld games (in terms of sales) were on a Nintendo system (DS/GBA).

The ability to be hacked is the only thing that saved the PSP. Literally for two years the only good game for it was Lumines. It's selling "decent" now because good games are finally being released for it.

Agreed, but no other handheld in history, even if it's a short one, has survived like the PSP vs Nintendo. It's silly to think Nintendo doesn't notice this. However, you also have to assume (base on their adverts) that Sony knew this and instead of competing for the same demographic, they took the other rout. The sector who doesn't want a DS but wants an alternative such as the PSP.

Yes, it is the consumers primary responsibility to research whatever product they are potentially willing to buy. I would like to think it is also the vendor's responsibility to inform them, if asked, of the capabilities/specs of x vs y product. 360 can not only play CD's, it can support Ipods and Zunes. (hello 2008) 360 can not only play movies, it can play them in 1080p, and you can download them straight to the console off marketplace.

Not saying I disagree with it being the consumers responsibility to research their purchase, but, and I'd bet money on this, if you ask the "regular consumer" to list the number of reasons they bought a PS3, they're going to tell you 1) Games and 2) Blu-ray, they aren't going to say because it offers Super Audio cd and the codecs to play multiple formats of video!!!

The average consumer doesn't go into details, they look at whats popular and affordable. There are certainly consumers who know every detail about the product they buy, every feature, but I don't believe they fall into the regular category. Not to mention, most of those features you listed are either available on the 360 in some form, or aren't a huge selling point to me. I'm not going to base my purchase of a gaming system on super audio cd, but on its games, generally.

I'm so pissed, I just deleted my save file in Mass Effect by accident. I was only 5 hours in but god damnit, this sucks. I was at the part where you fight the Asari Matriach lady at Peak 15. She owned me like 5 straight times, and when I went to reload my save file I hit X by accident.

It's gay that the game doesn't ask you if you're sure before you delete a file.... damnit!

Now I'm at the character creation screen... I was Vanguard before but something about the class felt pretty weak. I'm thinking of just either going Adept or Soldier. Anyone play the game on those classes? Which is your favorite?

Play soldier with Liara and Tali as your teammates, get used to the battle system/their abilities, and then for the 2nd playthrough roll an Adept.

Vanguard is a crappy job tbh. (unless you unlock some achievements and can give it some extra stuff at the creation menu, makes a world of difference.)

And this is exactly why I have multiple saves at ALL TIMES in RPGs. It sucks dude but it's cool, you'll have to beat the game about 4-6 times over anyways to get everything you want out of it.
