Xav, how is No More Heroes?
I'm playing Gears of War for the first time, and it plays like crap to what I'm used to. Usually by day 2 I'm able to do everything and play with medium tiered players. I can't do shit with Gears, the controls feel so sloppy(A button doing every fucking thing). Any tips?
Play co op campaign on Insane.
Go find a 60 on ebay or something. Best PS3 there is.
I could never get the hang of Gears online either, and I'm pretty good at FPS games in general. Something about the third to first-person gameplay, combined with my bullets never hitting the target regardless, just never really worked with me against human opponents. Now, offline, I thought the game was a blast.Originally Posted by BRP

No More Heroes is fun, and I really enjoy its oddball humor. The art style is pretty cool, but the environment graphics are kind of blah (for a Wii game even). It has a sandbox overworld but its kind of pointless, and I agree with most reviewers who said that it only really serves as filler from point A to B on missions. The combat is fairly fun, but I think I'd only recommend a rental. Its hard to spend $50-60 on any game that doesn't have massive replay (or online) value.
Le sigh at you late comers to Gears, that game is the epitome of the greatness of XBL for me, met all my best XBL buddies on there.
Still imo, that is the game that gets the cover system down better than any other still. R6V you have to hold the button down the whole time, and in Uncharted it worked about 99% as well (1 button press is the way to do it) but it just wasn't as polished as in Gears.
Definitely play through the campaign with a buddy on Normal first, and then yes definitely Insane, but have fun with Act 3 on Insane /shudder

And yea that picture for The Chain or w/e its called is so tempting, even though it is hardly anything it is just so intriguing.
And SOTC to me is one of the most overrated games. I played it through the first boss, and the game is just so empty other than the giant bosses that it was kind of boring, and the bosses were so massive that it just became mundane. If that game was made by anyone other than the Ico developer it would not have been as well received. With that said, that is true for lots of games.
Completely agree on NMH. I'm not a huge fan of these types of games anyway, and it's a fun/good game, but it's short enough so that I could just rent it and beat it.
Now, Endless Ocean is awesome. There's just enough available objectives (treasure hunting, giving tours, taking photos, "pet" training, and information collecting/exploring) to hold the line at relaxing without dropping into "boring" territory, and it's only $30. I was actually quite surprised at how much there is to do, but at the same time I don't have to do anything I don't want to do, which is also nice.![]()
My biggest grudge is how I'll get stuck between two close surfaces while dodging away, making myself an easy target. And then running isn't that cool either. For a cover heavy game, the average assault rifle doesn't feel too strong, but maybe that's my fault.
60 gig or 20 gig on ebay are the best, as mentioned above.
If I had a chance to do it over again, I'd get the 20 gig off ebay right now.
and buy a massive harddrive for like 80 bucks.
no wireless internet card in the 20gig or i'd agree with it being worth getting.
60GB PS3s are going for outrageous prices on eBay... starting at about $515. Some are more than that justified by a "free game" or movie (snore).
Went to Best Buy today to pick up a PS3, there were no 80gigs at all, so I just settled with the 40 gig since my ps2 still works, and it freed up some cash to get Rock Band instead of a regular game.Originally Posted by Epical
What? Most are ending for $400 or less from my searches. A few are $350ish, comes with just the system only.Originally Posted by Epical
sounds like someone missed the entire point of the game.Originally Posted by Po
were you also annoyed because you couldn't kill the silly horse that kept following you?
Also, did you do the time trials and unlock all of the special items like the Rambo arrow?
thinking he probably only beat the first boss.
Well, I downloaded and played the PixelJunk Monsters demo, which for some reason I couldn't find on the NA store and had to get it off of the JP store. It's pretty fun but I may be biased seeing as I like tower defense games. The only real gripes I have with it are the tower upgrading system, the way you have to go about collecting the coins and gems that drop off of each killed monster and the fact that the main character seems to run soooo slow.
Yes I only beat the first boss, and it did not appeal to me. I know many other people feel like I do as well, it is not an across the board loved game. Just not for me, and a little overrated imo.
And that is awesome to hear that 60 gigs are starting to become highly wanted, I had hoped this would happen :rocl:
