I kind of thought it was overrated too, and I beat the game. I thought the art direction was fantastic and environment was beautiful, but it had so little real narration. Now, granted, its atmosphere was definitely cool, and I think SOTC was probably the closest I've ever come to feeling like I'm not playing a game but an interactive piece of art, but as a game itself I felt it was pretty sparse. Still loved the game, but I don't think it was the second coming or anything.

Toys R Us was selling new 60s for $450. Why are you looking at pricey auctions Epical?? Do a search for ps3 60Gb, and check the completed auction box to see what they actually end at. Not the high "Buy it Now" prices that rarely get sold.

The PS2 system data (5Mb) which allows FFXI to run on your PS3. It's on the PSN store, small file.

You still have to install/download FFXI via the original discs.

I think I remember reading that you can now use the FFXI Vana collections after a firmware update. Don't quote me on that tho.

And ya, you don't need the disc inside the PS3 to play ffxi.

Yes I finally found a thread on some forum with a guy who bought the 08 collection pre 2.10 and couldn't install it, then could after 2.10.

Now just have to wait to see what Sony is doing about their "highend" sku... Will they release a sku with dualshock3? Up the hdd to 100-120? Pack a game like Uncharted over Motorstorm? Or will they just stick with the 40gig forcing me to get an 80gig PS3 -.-?

I think both will move a lot of consoles, but those that are waiting for MGS4 already went and bought PS3s. So those PS3s have already been moved, with of course, exceptions.

However, FFXIII I think will bring in a lot more people to the PS3-- those that haven't bought a 360 or a PS3, or those with Wiis/Nintendo DS. Why do I think this? Because MGS4 was supposed to be out 2007, whereas FFXIII has never had a mention of a release date.

I promise you it won't be out in 2008. Or at least, he promises the JP version will be out by 2008, that would make more sense. Oh you want the NA version? Yeah... we're looking at mid 2009 most likely. (not that it really matters since we can just import and play it, but still..)

And MGS4 won't move as many consoles as people seem to think. It's not THAT popular. Or at least, not to people who don't own the console yet. Most people I talk that don't own it yet seem to prefer waiting it out until FF13 comes out.

Haven't had time, and there's way too many games released at the same time. Still need to finish COD4 SP, SMG and ME first before I touch MP stuff.


For people wary of the 80gb phase out.

Wherever his or her information is coming from, it's usually solid. After I spoke to Sony about the possible discontinuation of the 80GB PS3 model, I lit the mole-signal.

Working late into the night on Saturday, I heard a noise behind me. For both of our safety, I didn't turn around. "You've talked to Sony," the mole said in a gravelly whisper. "Tell me what they told you."

I repeated the information we reported on Friday: Sony is sticking to a two-model approach at retail, but the company won't comment on whether or not the other model would be the 80GB system. The 40GB system seems safe. I asked the mole what information he had.

"Sony is, in fact, phasing out the 80GB PS3. Sony is going to stay with the two-SKU approach though, and the prices look to stay the same," the mole told me. I heard sirens in the background, and the mole seemed nervous. "The Spiderman 3 pack-in will disappear as well once the 80GB unit is gone. In order to maintain a similar value proposition to the 80GB/Spiderman 3 bundle, I expect to see a storage increase to 120 or 160GB at the same price point, plus the new Dual-Shock 3 controller... what are you trying to accomplish with this story?"
