Well, obvious.

I would putas number one, there is plenty of fanboys and people expecting it (or already playing).
Edit: Well there is starcraft2 in there too as a good candidate for #1. Fallout? wtf, same with prototype.
It's on the Wii which makes lots of people resent its existance.Originally Posted by Tajin

You know..."It doesn't count", "it's not really competing", "it's ruining gaming", ect. These memes have to be believed by "someone", and reviewers, despite the fact they are supposed to be non-biased in their reviews, are human, and prone to human tendencies. It's the same reason I have to discontinue a few of my mag subscriptions, because I don't want to constantly read about non-gaming aspects of the machines, and fanboy war bullshit, somehow getting positive bullet points and in-depth coverage...in a GAMING magazine.Originally Posted by Tajin
Regardless, the top three games on that list SHOULD be:
SSBB
Starcraft 2
GTA4
in no particular order. The (overall) anticipation for those games simply trounces anything else, and cannot be denied. Smash has had more pre-orders alone that any known game this gen (except Halo 3) and I can't go on youtube without seeing a vid of it being watched, GTA4 has been hyped for AGES and the sequel to one of the biggest blockbuster franchises of last gen, and Starcraft 2 doesn't even need explaining. Anything else in the top 3 spots is simply unacceptable. Fail list is fail.
Brawl looks like a good game
Just because you are anticipating it doesnt qualify it to be #1 automatically
Yes youtube has many Super Smash Bros.... videos, so does mugen, street fighter, every other game known to man... hell even the defunkt ET from Atari is on there
Will the game sell, of course, but some of you Ninty fanboys go ape shit/chest beating over a game, and then turn around and piss on anyone else who does the same thing
Remember just cause alot of people on this board accept certain things/types (be it whatever race, politics, religion, gaming, comedy, nsfw/nsfl, etc.) doesnt speak for everybody else
Everyone is not going to buy Brawl, most don't own a Wii, alot of the gaming population like other things (generes, playstyle, etc.), and the game developers/magazine/internet bloggers/websites try to see what they think can be triumphant in 2008
If Brawl sells well (it will, I know) then Nintendo has made its money and gamers have enjoyed more experiences from the game, then after some time has passed, some will say negative things (its a given, just look @ Twilight Princess, most on this board were crazy when it was released, then few months down the line started seeing the crackling of its no Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, or such and such parts sucked) and the cycle continues to the next game that will end gaming forever
Honestly, if that old E.T. game on Atari didn't end gaming, nothing will... short of extinction that is.
I'm curious as to this statement in particular. The Nintendo Wii has been the #1 selling console for quite some time now. If, as you suggest, "most don't own a Wii", then what exactly can be said about the other systems?Originally Posted by GraveRobberX

I only know a few people that do.
I'm an avid gamer, playing video games is practically all I do for fun and I don't even own any of them.
Over 3 million people bought either a Wii, Xbox 360, or PS3 in December alone last year.
A sample group that includes yourself, and at most several hundred people, is not a very good statistic to base an opinion on.
I'm not feeling the Prototype buzz like the gametrailers guys are.
It's just reminding me of an amped up Crackdown, isn't really peaking anymore curiosity than that for me.
I understand what you are saying, to an extent. However, this is not about what I, you, a small group of people (any one forum, any one gaming magazine, whatever), thinks, unless they polled their auidence or something (and with that list I KNOW they didn't). I honestly don't understand who they are referring to when they say "Most Anticipated", unless they are talking about themselves only (if they are, that's fine and I understand that, but that doesn't look to be the case). This is, quite literally, a popularity contest, in this case across all systems, about which game is gathering the most hype and excitement. I can say with certainly that every other game on that list ain't got SHIT on GTA4, SSBB, and SC2 (honorable mention to GT5, MK, and MSG4, they'd be 4, 5, and 6 I think).Originally Posted by GraveRobberX
Hell, I don't even care about GTA4 or SC2, but no games on that list come close to these. It's not about the reviews or whatever, those are (for the most part) impossible to predict at this time, and even then they don't matter for "anticipation" because they have already reviewed them.
Also, for the record, when I was talking about youtube, I meant a Brawl video popped up on "Currently watching"...pretty much every time I went on youtube since JP release. That's no joke or "casual" interest there.
Again, fail list is fail. How many people have even heard of Prototype vs people who want GTA4 or SSBB? Shit is laughable.
Those were also some of the most anticipated games for 2007, maybe thats why they got bumped back in the list. j/kOriginally Posted by Kenai
And it's likely the collective opinions of all the gametrailers staffers. Because if they base it on industry buzz it's obviously a little out of place on several games.

I admire their optimism at FF13 in 2008 though.![]()
