So...anyone Ps3 or 360 freezing up at start of the game? I need to test my copy when i buy it later.Mine is a 60gb ps3 and since that one is giving the most problem i hope mine doesnt freeze.
I've got a 60gig PS3 and my copy works fineOriginally Posted by Merovingian

I hope mine does not lock-up ;-;
Mine works perfectly fine. Already 20% into the game and I haven't had a single issue.
Well Im a 27 year old that thanks to FFXI sucking my last 4 years away video game wise (I bought other games, played them for a day or two, then went back to FFXI lol) working alot, and me being well just old, I have been out of the loop alot in the last couple of years on the differences between the 360 and PS3.
Seeing as I am a birthday boy coming up and my grrreat Girlfriend is going to buy me one or the other I have a few quick questions, thanks for any replies!
1. Online play for both sytems, are they both very smoothe? I always thought PS2 online went much smoother for me than Xbox. Keep in mind I am a huggge online sports and shooter fan so of course Halo, CoD4, and Madden are very key games for me. (obviously I can live without Halo because frankly I havent heard much about it, and 2 sucked)
2. Which brings me to Madden, my favorite series ever, but sadly I am forced to upgrade from PS2 madden gameplay to the newer gen gameplay (I seriously do not like the way Madden is on xbox360) but at least on PS3 I can still use the controller. (I heard it was even choppier on the PS3 or it was really bugged is that true?) How was this game online? Lag? and yes I know there were probably a bunch of fucks learning all the Disconnect tricks like every other Madden.
3. Is the PS3 moving up any? Exclusive titles and whatnot. I have had a PS2 and Xbox, and god damn the PS2 smoked it just like the PS smoked the N64. (Bring back the dreamcast please btw) What are some of the exclusive games coming up for both systems that make one jealous of the other?
also will the new FF games be coming out on PS3 like they always did with PS and PS2? How about FFXI online? I have been on a 6 month break from the game but still if I come back this is a particularly huge factor as well. I have it on PS2 and PC but besides some of the cool tricks you could do with the PC I still preferred it on the console.
Thanks, I know it was long but I look forward to any responses (especially from PS3 owners)
Shit. PS. I know I can look this up myself but I am at a house with loldial up for a few days and wouldnt mind a response: The price differences and should I get the most expensive model I can for either one? Assuming the PS3 has a couple gig options, IDK
Edit* Changed Greeeaat GF to Greeeaat Girlfriend so no one thought my Great grandfather who is dead bought his 27 year old Greeeaat grandson video game consoles from his grave >.>
Inb4 console war debate.
Annnnnnnnnnnnnnd go.![]()

Go with PS3. SMT IV is going to hit it like a ton of bricks, along with FFXIII, MGS4, Valkyria Chronicles, Disgaea 3, Killzone 2, Resistance 2, Star Ocean 4. I think I made a wise investment seeing as PS3 has some great titles coming up and a few upcoming to hold me over. 360 I am starting to regret, seeing as it's so called "exclusives" seem to hit PC.
PC is easily the superior of the two so I kind of regret not just building a new PC. I haven't touched my 360 since I got my PS3, mainly because of GTA 4 and Metal Gear Online beta.
and really if all you can find are 40GB PS3's do it, I don't regret buying this at all. Seeing as I still have my PS2, swap magic, and have already played all of the classics. The only way I will trade this beauty up is if the white PS3 hits US, in a heartbeat.
Ok I have compiled a list of pro's and con's, bare with me now.
Pro's PS3:
FREE online play
Bluetooth technology controllers, headsets
Web browser
Keyboard/Mouse compatible games (UT3, MGO)
PS Home
Extremely low failure rate
Bluray
FREE built in Wi Fi (not some $100 ripoff attachment)
Upgradable hard drive
Superior backwards compatibility (20, 60, 80GB models only)
Upscaling older games
Region free
Cons PS3:
Online shop isn't filled with much good stuff
Dust magnet, don't bother cleaning a lot
Mandatory HD game installs :/ (well I don't like it, better load times or not)
Not many RPG's out for it
Dual Shock 3 being sold separately from 40GB's
Price tag
Pro's 360:
Amazing content in marketplace
Lots of free demos
Plenty of great games already out
Prices on games starting to lower
A few decent RPG's
Shootan haven
Player ratings (can work as a blacklist sort of)
Rumble ready controllers
Great price
3 year warranty
Exchangable faceplates
Cons 360:
RRoD (high failure rates)
Annoying ass players online
NO Wi-Fi ($100)
NO web browser
Pay to play online
Annoying HUGE power brick. ugh I fucking hate that thing
"Exclusives" ported to PC
Limited capacity, "unique" hard drives from Microsoft, extremely over priced
Wireless controllers use double A batteries
Once I finish Lost Odyssey and Tales of Vesperia and Gears of War 2 come out I think I will be done with 360.
why cant you put a 360 inside an entertainment center? O_o
Why do you even listing NO web browser as a con?
If you play Madden competitively at all, get a 360. It runs at twice the FPS and theres no word on whether or not 09' will be fixed on PS3.
Yep, the online side is much better on the 360, they even have the MSN messenger integrated into the xbox dashboard.
But Larsa comparison is mostly OK.
Yeah, that comparison is fairly good, but I don't know why a web browser is really a huge plus, its not like most people don't have access to a computer right next to them anyway. Saying the PS3 has superior backwards compatibility when the only model most stores even have in stock right now is the 40gig is kind of funny too, but if you can find the 20/60gig its definitely true.
I don't know why you can't store the 360 in an entertainment center either. Otherwise, pretty accurate.
Phil Frazier, one of the game's lead designers, said in an interview that the PS3 version of 09 will be 60 fps.Originally Posted by Deejay

Sweet interview, that was a really nice read. Looks like this years Madden is going to be the shiiiiiiiiiiit.
Because I can't count the amount of times I would be at my friends and both of them would be raiding on WoW and can't access the net. I needed to get ID names for Metal Gear Online beta and I used the net to get them from the forums I visit.Originally Posted by Deejay
Also nice to watch youtube videos too I guess.
Ok that was a personal thing, my entertainment center is made of wood, and the shelves are glass. The only kind of ventilation they get are the little holes for cables, even if I left the door open on the shelve I could feel the heat. No doubt my 360 would RRoD in no time. I took a picture.Originally Posted by izembo

It looks like it would be ok but I just had a bad feeling about it.
FYI the size of the hole couldn't fit the hybrid component cable the 360 comes with.
Yeah I know, should have implied towards the upcoming 80GB if the guy can wait up for it.Originally Posted by Xavier
Why would anyone put any console behind glass doors in an entertainment center while playing? If you have to keep it there, either just keep the doors open while playing, or take them off.
