They made changes to the PS and PS2, maybe, but they still kept the focal point of the system in the actual games. Extra features are great and all, but they are supposed to enhance the gameplay experience, or maybe be something to do on the side, not carry the system. The PS and PS2 are remembered for their game library, not anything extra. Again, it's a GAME system.

Who is bitching? I'm saying that some of those "features" should be actual games if they want the PSP2 to be sucessful. Apparently that is asking for too much?

Well, I sure don't see them anywhere, usually they talk about that type of thing, especially when they are saying it's "addressing the PSP's problems" (I saw a picture of Tekken on the screen, I guess). They sure love to talk about that camera/memory space though. I guess I can wait and see, it's not like the system is holding me in suspense or anything.

I kept my PSP for Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles, other then that nothing else appeals to me on the PSP.

I'm waiting for FFT to be ported to PSP. Then it will be worth every penny imho.

Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops is supposed to be pretty good.

But I'll be surprised if they don't port this to the PS2 some time, like they did with both GTA games.

I'll wait til the "PsP2" comes out, then watch the price of the PSP lower drastically. THEN, the FFT port will most definitely be worth every penny. 8)

The only reason I play DS is for old school 2d graphics and games with a more 'simple' feel. The whole reason I have no interest in a PSP or lolPSP2 is because they are trying to make a powerful system, and what you end up with is something that just feels 'lesser' than playing on your tv system. and with VC, especially when they start doing original content, I doubt even a DS2 could turn my head.

DS, and portables in general, aren't supposed to be trying to accomplish the exact same thing as a console. They don't have the power for it, and won't for a long time. NDS comes out with a lot of nice games, games worth buying, and that's all I really *need*. Other companies with portables always seem to tack on extra features and make them a priorty, which is nice, but not at the expnse of games or gameplay, and they always seem to end up making that mistake over and over. They don't need to make a DS2 because there's not really anything wrong with the DS Lite, and it's still nearly impossible to find in stores, it sells so well. As long as the DS keeps churning out good titles, it will continue to prosper.

PSP has sold around 22 million copies so far, I certainly wouldn't be calling that a failure.

Granted, DS has sold close to 40 million in comparison. The handhelds are cheap enough that those people who have bought a PSP, likely got a DS as well.

Both of them have good games, DS is considerably cheaper.

other than that tiltyball la roca game or whatever are there really any psp games that make you feel like anything other than playing a 'lesser' console? You know what playing games like portable ops does? it makes me wish I was playing on PS2/3 instead. whereas games like Brain Age or even a nice back to basics rpg like FF3 makes me hope they don't make a DS2, because these are the way I want my games to look.

Not a "failure", but the PSP is certainly not prospering. A lot of stores threatened to pull the PSP off the shelves altogether if they didn't drop the price more so that they would sell better, so Sony complied. The PSP had the potential to blow the DS out of the water, or at least go toe to toe with it, but they don't even seem to be trying now. They have released a few good games, but a lot of people don't even want them because it will mess up their emulator, and even then, a large portion of those games are ports or remakes, not much that is super-nice and for the PSP only (I know, lolexclusives, but it does matter). Honestly, I just did a list of both, and the PSP's lineup isn't BAD, but they have like 1/3rd of the DS library, maybe. Meanwhile, the DS is still selling out internationally, especially in Japan, the DS is selling out the PSP like...10 to 1, or something ridiculous like that. The funny thing about the DS's sales is that a lot of people who want one can't just walk into a store and buy one, or the numbers would probably be significantly higher.

And yet they didn't even bother to show any real game demos in those articles, just tech specs on competing with Apple and such. Has a game system EVER not shown any game trailers or a game lineup once it was revealed before? Even if they do have a camera and more memory (which would be nice), it won't mean too much if they don't attract some game developers. I don't ever expect them to catch up to the DS at this point, especially after stuff like Pokemon D/P and Brain Age have had such sucess, and stuff like FF: RW, FFTA2, DQ9, and LoZ aren't far away, but they can still do a hella lot better. Establish it as a game system like it's supposed to be, then branch out with the accessories ffs.

Well, maybe I am still being bitter about the original PSP. I dunno.

on a different note, anyone else excited about Little Big Planet?

For those who haven't heard of it, here is a brief rundown from IGN:

Last September, the UK developers at Media Molecule announced a deal it had brokered with Sony regarding an exclusive PlayStation 3 title of mysterious themes. Today during the Phil Harrison keynote address, however, SCEA officially announced what that project is: LittleBigPlanet.

A creation game that gives players the ability to design their own game worlds on the fly, LittleBigPlanet is built around the idea that the user generates their own content -- by providing multiple material types, stickers, and other items that can modify the playfield on the fly.

Stage alterations are done entirely on the fly and a separated level editor is not required.

"We're confident that PS3 would be the platform to the lead the way in creative gaming, and LittleBigPlanet brings this concept to life spectacularly," remarked Phil Harrison, President of SCE Worldwide Studios. "By giving players the power to shape and share an entire virtual world via PlayStation Network, we've created the space for PS3 owners to realize their creativity and craft their own unique gameplay experience."

    K so, siriusbusiness question:

Is it worth waiting for the 360 Elite, or getting the Premium/Core now? If it's not worth the wait, which one (I'll assume Premium)? Does it come with some sort of built-in WiFi thing like the Wii does? There's no way I'm stringing an ethernet cable all the way downstairs.

    Either way, I really want a 360 now. >_>

New 360 Elite has upgraded Harddrive and HDMi support.

$399.99 for premium, and $479.99 for Elite

Just my opinion, but 80 bucks for an extra 100 gigs of Harddrive space and HDMI support seems worth it, especially if have a High Definition TV.

The difference between Component and HDMI is minimal when comparing 720p and 1080i and sound quality. But if you have a TV cranking out 1080p and Blue-Ray(sorry, HD-DVD) it would be more noticeable.

No, the Elite still doesn't come with WiFi. One of the higher ups at Microsoft was actually quoted as saying he didn't think WiFi was that important.

The only difference between the Elite and the Premium is a 120GB HDD and an HDMI port. Also, I don't know if this will make a difference to you, but the HDMI port on the Elite will only support up to version 1.2 HDMI as opposed to version 1.3. The difference being the latter having a larger bandwidth and supporting Dolby TrueHD sound.
