Final Fantasy VII Director Yoshinori Kitase recently touched on the possibility of remaking the RPG classic for the PlayStation 3, stating that fans could “expect the probability of something spontaneous happening at some point.”

Kitase commented that if a remake were to transpire, it would have to include all of the core team members from the original 1997 PlayStation classic; something which isn’t possible right now due each individual’s commitments to other projects.

"My feelings are that if a remake were to work well then all the core members of the original team must be reassembled, all the artists and designers,” said Kitase.

“The problem is that, although all of us have an idea of what a remake should be and how to do it, organising such a thing right now is logistically very difficult. All the different members are now involved in very new, very large projects like Final Fantasy XIII and those projects are going to take a while.”

Despite this, he refused to completely rule out the chances of a remake on PS3, adding, “Maybe, when all those games are finished then we can look at doing something like that.”

”Of course, that said we came up with the idea for Crisis Core in just two days. It was a case of 'this is what we want to do, so let's do it'. So, you can definitely expect the probability of something spontaneous happening at some point, but it's hard to predict."

Greenpeace says 360/PS3/Wii not "green" enough

Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo are not doing enough to eliminate potentially harmful chemicals and metals from their games consoles, Greenpeace has said.

Nintendo's environment policies were "non-existent", Greenpeace added.

"Nintendo doesn't have any environmental policies, " said Zeina Al-Hajj, Greenpeace's International Toxic Campaign co-ordinator.

"We were shocked with Nintendo; it was our biggest surprise."

The report found that the PS3 and 360 both contained "very high" levels of chemicals, called phthalates, which are used to "soften" flexible materials like wires and cable coatings.

They are not permitted in toys sold in Europe but under EU regulations games consoles are not classed as toys.

The report found that all three consoles contained varying levels of the toxic element bromine, which is used as a flame retardant.

The presence of beryllium was found in both the PS3 and Xbox 360. The element is not banned under EU law but it has been linked to lung cancer when dust and fumes are created through some recycling processes.

Microsoft has committed to eliminating the use of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), which includes phthalates, and brominated flame retardants (BFR) by 2010.

Nintendo has also committed to removing PVC from future products, but has not given a specific timeframe.

Greenpeace criticised Sony for failing to agree to eliminate PVC and BFR from its games consoles, while at the same time pledging their removal from its mobile products.

"None of these chemicals exist in Sony's Vaio laptop. So if they can do it for a laptop, why can't they push this for the console also?"

I've got to say, I've got a bigger problem with Greenpeace than any other organization in the US even PETA mainly for their involvement in why gasoline prices are so high.

Yep. I'd buy it as well. Say what you will but, them remaking FF7 wouldn't be a bad thing. I bet most people who bitch and moan about it would end up buying it as well. It's not the best game they could remake but it certainly is a safe one.

I'd buy a FF7 remake, mostly because back in high school, some douchebag, who was the son of one of my dad's friends, stole all my PS1 and PS2 games and sold them. He also stole my fiancee's credit card back then and bought Hentai porn on the internet with it. Such a fag. Anywho, I really enjoyed FFVII. I'm not going to go all fanboy on you guys and say it was my favorite ever. Dunno what I reserve as my favorite, but probably The Legend Of Dragoon. Vastly underrated game. I think most people liked FF7, they just hate the eccentric fans of it who act like God bestowed FFVII onto the world.

Also in TRU related news: We had 68 presales for WiiFit and only 7 Wiifit we(i) could sell to anyone else. People get PISSED when they see 2 uboats of a product and get told they cant have it haha. (Also I'm still sitting on 38 Wii's that we cant seem to sell. I think everyone in VA has em already )

If anyone STILL cant find a Wii and for some strange reason, I suggest any Toys R' Us close to your city, seeing as how we get more than probably anyone in the nation

gamestop gets 60-65% of nintendo's wii allocations, but unfortunately everybody checks there.

we got 12 wii fits, have sold like 5 of them.

I love you, called my toys R us and were taking pre-orders too. Driving to ToyRus right now to put in my pre-order. Just saved me a camp-out and a day off work @ gamestop :D

Idk how many we might get in though =\ My store i THINK has the smallest game section between our 3 other neighbor TRUs. We definently had 2 stacks of MGS4/PS3 preorder cards(100 per stack). But take that for a grain of salt....(last preorders we did was for Wiis, 24 preorder cards, 50total in the shipment...)

Yeah, I'm overweight, but never did it say I was fat. Eh, I know I was overweight to begin with...but I'm not morbidly obese lol. I like Wii Fit, it's entertaining if you're into the whole fitness thing. I did lose like 40 pounds before gaining 10 back this past semester. Anyway, I actually got my mom into playing it. She does the yoga stuff way better than I do.

As for buying a FF7 remake...I'd buy it. Just 100%'d Crisis Core and would love to play through FF7 again.

MGS4 bundle is available at my Toys R Us too. I already have a PS3 so it's useless, but meh, I'm telling friends I know that want it.
