Was at gamestop a few minutes ago and they got 12 of them in. As far as I know there are no plans for them to stop production on that bundle, since its the only backwards compatible one avaliable at this time.

It's no longer being manufacturered, but they are still sending out systems for what they produced. The company seems to take issue with the fact that some are calling it simply a "paint job," and points out that the run of units is only 10,000, and the package also includes a version of the game with an extra disc of additional content.
And, sears (lol) has some MGS4 bundles in stock if your looking: http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...0070921x00003a
ok? Am I missing something. I guess your talking about the 10,000 units? Because if thats the case they've already sold more than that lemme see if I can find the figure.
Is there another MGS4 bundle pack aside the 80 gig? I'm trying to find where I saw that it was no longer being manufacturered... but the more I think about it a Gamestop employee told me when I was trying to find one to buy... so he mighta been talking out of his ass.
Trying to find something online but can't really find anything official
edit: oh... I searched for the 40gig MGS4 bundle and that was the one w/ only 10k units sold. my bad
yeah there was a limited edition 40 GIG gunmetal version. That is probably the one and they only made about 10,000 of those and it was 700 bucks lol.
I'm thinking the BC 80GB/MGS4 PS3 is no longer in production. The GameStops here haven't had any for at least 4 weeks... I think what's out there still is all there will be. However, it shouldn't be that difficult to find in bigger stores for another couple of weeks.
Pro Tip check your local Wal Marts. They still get them shipped as far as I know until they run out. I am going to pick one up today to save for later.. Not price gouging I swear. I hate those fuckers. But until I find someone who wants to buy my old 40GB seeing as it's pretty useless in comparison but nonetheless has all of my stuff on there..
Ya I will end up going out tomorrow looking. Anyone ever buy a refurb system? http://www.ebgames.com/Catalog/Produ...oduct_id=64006 EB has refurb 60g for 430 seems like a decent deal.

Ebay never fails, but there is a link katlan what it looks like. Gamestop here in gastonia NC got 12 today like I posted above. I kinda want to upgrade to the 160 when it comes out. really pisses me off tho they bring out the 160 after I bought the MGS4 bundle in june, or maybe at least soon they'll make the 160 harddrive buyable as a standalone. or make an external for it.
Only reason I see to buying a Refurbed system is if your trying to save $50~ But you want to check, not sure if a refurbed system comes w/ a real warranty outside of the extended "in-store" warranty.
and wtf at the 160 gig system... is there even a reason for needing that? Pisses me off also, they are turning the PS3 into a never ending money sink. 360 did it also, but at least they upgraded the general hardware w/the newer versions so its not just a "bigger" HD (i.e. newer systems come w/ HDMI)
As far as I know Sony has been upgrading their internal heatsinks and making them smaller. I am sure the 160GB will also feature something like that.
At least back in my days of working at EB, pre-owned systems with the extended warranty were a good deal. The pre-owned discount paid for the warranty that was a simple over the counter exchange, superior to the mfg. warranty in some ways. However, with PS3s having the smallest install base getting another pre-owned system to do a warranty swap could be tough and have you waiting a few days or weeks while a system is located.
Joystiq put together a table with some stats on PS3 skus: http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/26/ta...tation-3-skus/
In addition to bigger HDDs, the newer PS3s are moving toward having 65nm processors from the original 90nm units.
White knight story gets a JP release date, hopefully a US release will follow soon. This game looks great, if u have a ps3 with a JP account u can download the trailer and theres a couple of videos in youtube showing the combat style.

Some PS3 games will be retro-active, ala BurnOut Paradise (Criterion thought Sony sooner or later would implement achievements, so they made the game save file and all things unlocked saved server side)
Burnout Paradise hasn't added the patch for trophies yet
Uncharted you have to start all over again, cause anybody can just borrow someone elses file....and bam all trophies
Best way to get trophies for Uncharted is to play up to chapter 2 on easy, then return back to chapter 1 (always on easy mode) and complete the tasks @ hand, I got maybe replaying that same chapter 15-20 times and unlocked most trophies
Then breezed through the game on easy to accumulate the certain weapon kills, and finish the game on easy
Next I started on Hard, finished that, I got trophies both for Normal/Hard
So only thing standing in my way of Platinum is beating the game on Crushing....oh so many chapter restarts/checkpoints lie ahead of me
Don't worry, according to the later link, the software PS2 compatibility is gone, so Sony is "updating features". Just not in a good way >_>and wtf at the 160 gig system... is there even a reason for needing that? The PS3 uses a standard SATA 2.5" drive, unlike the 360, which forces you to pay out the nose for an official kit. If you really want a larger drive, pop on over to Newegg and order one. A 160GB drive is around $100, but a 250 isn't much more.Ebay never fails, but there is a link katlan what it looks like. Gamestop here in gastonia NC got 12 today like I posted above. It's supported, hell, the manual even tells you how to do it.
You can also plug a USB HDD into the system, though I haven't tried that myself.
Far as MGS4 bundles, the Target where I bought mine had a couple earlier this week. So they're still on store shelves for MSRP if you look around.
Dead Space release date's been bumped up to October 14th now.

I do this a lot (external storage device) and it works pretty well. I can watch the majority of stuff I have on my computer on my PS3 (exception being, I think, RMVBs).
Honestly though, there isn't a whole lot you'll need to keep on your PS3 that warrants 160 gigs. Hell, 80 gigs is overkill.
That's kind of what I'm thinking Elcura. The PS3 media sharing feature is really sweet and has basically the same file type limitations as the 360 - I only wish I could somehow install a codec for .mkv files on my PS3, given that so much high-quility TV, anime, and movie rips are in mkv these days.
Either that or I need to do some research and figure out how to convert Matroska combined video files into a format that my PS3 can play.
I've never been able to get my PS3 to even play supported files. I have a bunch of .MP4 and even tried that PS3 video converter and nothing works. I gave up trying awhile ago.
