Well, most drives are default formatted to that anyway. It's also the better thing to keep them in for compatibility purposes. Macs will read, but not write to, NTFS (though I assume there are tools out there to allow it). But, good to know. I've used my 360 for media playback a little, though usually I use my PC in the living room for it. Given the options I have for it, I have little reason to do much on the PS3 outside the DVD/Blu-Ray stuff I got it for.
whenever i have the PS3 media sharing option "enabled" it has a 60% chance (each time I go online) to disbale my internet until I reboot the router. This doesn't happen w/ my 360 or anything else, any idea why the "media" sharing option does this? and it doesn't do this to my router (old Lynksys), it does it my my landords (I live in the guest house) fairly new Lynksys. It's just odd, the second I click "sign in" (w/media sharing enabled) it disconnects my net that same second
Katalan that almost sounds like the PS3 is attempting to acquire a unique IP address from the ISP instead of just going through the router. (i.e. treating the router like a hub/switcher)
^ I was going to ask him that, if he had static or dynamic ips, untill he mentioned he didn't have problems with the old linksys ;x
Hmm, maybe something to do with the firewall that your landlords' router is somehow blocking the protocol, which one was it, UPnP? Btw, is this wireless? ;x
I'm at work so can't mess around w/it yet, but why would it only do this when media sharing is enabled (just doesn't make sense to me why works fine online w/ the media disabled)? And can I change / fix this in the internet config menu?
edit: We do have Wifi around the place but my ps3 is not wirelessly connected . I'll go check what protocol it is set to when I get home. I have no idea since never had any issues before in the 4 years I've been here. my router is like a year old PoS lol, so surprised it's not the one that act's up. And when it boots me from the net its for everything connected to the router (wifi still works fine).
Yeah, try setting it up using the PS3's wireless setup. Once you get your PS3 configured and have a positive connection to the internet, hopefully without dropping any of your other machines, run WMP and enable media sharing for the PS3 - it'll probably come up as "Unidentified Device MAC..." and not as a PS3. If you're still getting cock blocked, try setting the network connection between your PS3 and your PC to a "Private" network (but only if it shows up in your "Network Sharing and Connections" panel)
Oh, and make sure you remove the ethernet cable from your PS3 before attempting to set it up wireless. Seems like it will always default to a wired connection if there is one available.
Ok I have a question maybe someone can help me with, im running out of room on my 360, I have a 20 gig, is there an external USB HDD I can buy thats cheaper than the 120 MS one. I have 5 arcade games and game saves leaves me with 4 gigs left, need more room ;/
I don't think 360 supports external hard drives. Worst case scenario is delete the arcade games you don't play as often, and re download them when you feel the need.
Also, have you deleted all of your old demo's/trailers? If not, that should free up some space.
yeah I deleted all the shit I didnt need, still only have 4 gig's of space and thats a good idea.
Ok for those getting dead space, GameSTop for a supper limited time, when u reserve Dead Space they take ur email address and you get a special suit for the game with expanded defense and Inventory. Also a limited edition art book as well.
Any clue what time the public beta for SOCOM starts besides "tomorrow"?

I was 4th to pre-order the game from my Gamestop and they have 16 codes. Aren't giving out codes until the games release since they have had problems w/it in the past... I better not get fucked over cause i usually don't pick up my pre-orders for a few days after release [depending on how hyped I am for a game] -_-
Yeah I talked them into giving me two, they had quite a few there. Code handed out to hiryo, enjoy buddy.
Swamp it says their gunna start rolling out codes at 10 am pst, guessing thats when it goes live, I want the game just for the damn headset lol.
Assuming you've already registered, here is what to expect. At around 10am Pacific Daylight Time, e-mails containing the SOCOM: Confrontation Public Beta PSN codes will start going out in bursts. The e-mails will start arriving at e-mail in-boxes throughout the day. The e-mail will be sent to the PSN login e-mail address you provided when you registered for the SOCOM: Confrontation Public Beta.
