New firmware updates for PSP (v5.0) and PS3 (v2.5) coming out very soon. Adds PSN store to PSP and links allows you to login with your already existing account on the PS3. PS3 gets several new updates. Ones worth noting are auto shutdown for the console and controllers after a certain period of time, in game screenshots, enhanced trophy support and support for the new PS3 bluetooth headset.

Damn, that sounds awesome but turns out it's just another game-by-game basis feature that'll probably end up being ignored. Would be nice to be able to take screencaps at any time and upload them to a computer, hopefully it'll catch on and be allowed in every game.

That and the previously mentioned YouTube compability for making videos and uploading directly to YouTube. Honestly, it's one of those features that, to me, is awesome enough that developers would want to add it. Also as more developers start using the PS3 as the lead platform like with Dead Space and Skate 2, I think they will be more inclined to add all those little functions. I wouldn't think it would be game by game though, I figured they could just capture the signal going out of the PS3 but I guess I'm wrong about that.

Yeah, I would have thought it would be some sort of dashboard (XMB I think? I can never remember the name for the PS3's menu ) feature, but according to the link you posted it's just gonna be supported in certain games.

So, I sort of know, but don't. Want some info from people who are deep into the world of gaming. I'm behind times with my PS2 (I have a Wii though, gogo Brawl), and was curious about the price drops on the PS3. Might get one for Xmas. I read where I think the 40GB is $359.99 and the 80GB (Non backward compatible) is $399.99. I have a working PS2 and such, so the BC isn't a huge problem. Which is the better value for the buck would you guys say?

I'd get the cheapest w/ at least wifi; that's because I hate cables and like to keep everything organized. Also, you can upgrade the hd later on, so no biggie. Frankly, I don't remember what other things were stripped from the poorman's PS3... Last, I heard they were going to have more bundles like Uncharted, and I forget the rest. I'd get my hands on the MGS4 bundle or w/e game turns you on

    Spoiler: show
Everyone's Favorite Bandicoot Crashes onto Store Shelves - Crash: Mind Over
    Mutant Ships to Major Retailers
Popular Crash Bandicoot Franchise Returns this Holiday with New
    Family-Friendly Adventure
SANTA MONICA, Calif., Oct. 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Activision
Publishing, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI) has shipped the latest installment of
best-selling Crash Bandicoot(R) video game franchise, Crash(R) Mind Over
Mutant, to North American retailers. Developed by Radical Entertainment,
Crash: Mind Over Mutant is rated "E10+" (Everyone Age 10 and up) by the ESRB
and is available on the Xbox 360(R) video game and entertainment system from
Microsoft, Wii(TM) home video game system, Nintendo DS(TM), PlayStation(R)2
computer entertainment system and PSP(R) (PlayStation(R)Portable) system.
In the deepest Crash adventure yet, Crash: Mind Over Mutant arms players
with new features, including the ability not only to control enemies once they
are 'jacked,' but to store the mutants in Crash's pocket, upgrade them and
utilize their unique powers. Players can also roam through Wumpa Island in a
two-player cooperative mode with Crash's sister Coco.
"Crash Bandicoot is one of the best loved characters in video
games -- we're excited to bring him to next-gen and feature co-op play for the
first time in this all-new adventure," said David Pokress, head of marketing
for owned IPs, Activision, Inc. "Crash: Mind Over Mutant is a family-friendly
title that captures the humor and charm of Crash Bandicoot, along with all his
hilarious antics that will keep both kids and parents entertained this holiday
    season."
In Crash: Mind Over Mutant, a rejuvenated Neo Cortex is taking over the
world one brain at a time! Cortex and N. Brio devise a new kind of evil -- a
text-messaging, do-anything device that controls both mutant and bandicoot
minds. The "free-romping" experience allows players to voyage and explore
through intersecting worlds, giving them a new game play experience depending
on which mutant Crash stores in his pocket for the ride. Armed with his
quick-wits and lightening agility, Crash must free his friends, the titans and
    save the day!

LOL it's for every system but the PS3. Honestly, I think if Microsoft still supported the Xbox that it would have come out on it instead of the 360.

apparently they're updating to Flash 9 with the next firmware also. That's definitely a much needed upgrade imo. That's just somewhat of a rumor for now though. Kotaku reported it from an unofficial PS3 blog, so it could just be lies

I've heard the Flash 9 from multiple sites, so I'm pretty sure it's true.
