I have been trying to like the Wii as I got it as a gift last Christmas. Played Brawl a bit when I got it then the Wii has been collecting dust up until recently. I modded the thing hoping I could find some interest in it, played a few things but I really don't even want to play free games on it.

Was gonna make a new thread but don't really know if it would go in gaming or entertainment, so I'll just leave it here.

Netflix CEO has been focusing on other consoles, so I'm guessing it will be coming to the Wii some time soon also. Looks like Microsoft's exclusivity deal was for 1 year, hopefully they'll allow silver members to use Netflix now also to combat this.

Personally only reason I'd use this is to reduce the hassle of looking for TV as I don't have cable, but I torrent most of my shit anyway. And chances are if you really wanted Netflix on PS3 to begin with you'd probably have PlayOn, but this is a nice option to those that want this.

IGN: Microsoft Responds To PS3 Netflix Announcement

October 26, 2009 - The announcement that video streaming service Netflix would be headed to PlayStation 3 next month left many wondering if Microsoft would respond by dropping the Xbox Live Gold membership requirement to use the service on the Xbox 360.

That answer, as of today, is no.

A company spokesperson reiterated to IGN the value of Xbox Live Gold status, saying it's online experience is still "a generation ahead of the competition" despite a yearly subscription cost.

"The Netflix experience on Xbox LIVE is unique and reflects our commitment for social entertainment. We believe we offer an experience today that is a generation ahead of what others are offering," the spokesperson said. "For a little over $4 a month Xbox LIVE Gold membership is hands-down the best value in home entertainment, and gives you exclusive access multi-player gaming and early demos as well as Facebook, Twitter, Netflix, Last.fm, "1 vs 100" and more."

Unlike Xbox Live members, PlayStation 3 owners will not have to pay an additional charge outside of the monthly Netflix subscriber fee of $8.99.

Currently, players have the option of forming a private chat with players, but that will soon change.

To quote: "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will force players to decide whether or not they'll play the game and join the game chat, or choose to stay in a private chat and not play in the multiplayer game.

With titles like Gears of War, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: World at War, and many other online based multiplayer titles, the private chat feature became a way of telling other players of enemy locations after being killed."

Groove Armada set for PS3 Home gig

Groove Armada are launching their new album Black Light with the first ever gig inside Home, the virtual world for PS3.

Users, who appear as avatars, will be able to watch the video by visiting the Presentation Podium area.

Home has previously been used to promote movies and video games, including the recent launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

The service became available to PS3 owners as a public beta in December 2008.

Since then, according to Sony, more than eight million users have created accounts.

However, it is not the first 3D virtual world to act as a concert venue.

Second Life, which has around 16 million registered users, has played host to 80s stars Duran Duran and rapper Talib Kweli.

There is even a tribute band - U2 in SL - who have lookalike avatars and play the band's songs.

Groove Armada's Black Light is their first studio album in two years.

The duo say it will show a "darker" side of their music.
