Already tried it... the PS3 is completely dead. Salvaged the blu-ray drive tho...

And yea its only the PHAT models that you should have this issue... as they used a really low temp soldering nickle that can move/run over 100's of hours of high heat.

And in regards to the PS3 controllers... wtf? This is the first I have heard in regards to the Dual Shock or the Sixaxis.

Out of all the consoles ive owned there is two main ghetto failures on controllers ive ever had -

1. Nintendo 64 Controller - Center analog stick lost its center position and white powder surfacing. (Yes I played hardcore)

2. 360 Controller - One or both of the trigger springs completely failed and the play and charge kits having to be replaced every 3 months due to not being able to charge anymore. And just to slap it even more... losing sync on low battery when your 2 metres away from console. (Dont confuse this with dead battery)

I think most people have problems with the PS3 controller being too small... (I have Galka hands and I dont have an issue)

As previously reported, Sony has now updated to PS3 Firmware version 3.15. Remember, as stated by Sony, this is currently not a mandatory update.

It includes a fix for DualShock 3 pairing issues, the ability to transfer data between to PS3s via an ethernet cable and the ability to play PSP Minis on the PS3.

PS3 Firmware 3.15 Update Changelog:

• Bluetooth sync issues fixed
• Trophy syncing issue resolved
• PSP Minis now playable on the PS3 (starting December 17th all PSP minis will be playable on the PS3, for now you must go to your download list and re-download any previously purchased PSP minis for them to function on the PS3)
• LAN Data Transfer Utility

For those who missed it, the PS3 Data Transfer guide is below:

This feature enables you to easily transfer all of your saved data from one PS3 to another. So if you decide to get a new PS3 you can make sure you don't loose any of your existing content.

Content such as games, game save data, and videos downloaded from PlayStation Network can be transferred to the new PS3 system and deleted from the current PS3. Other content, including personal media files (photos, music, videos), can be copied onto the new PS3 and remain on the current PS3 system.

The process is really simple:

1. Turn both the current PS3 (A) and new PS3 (B) on and connect them with a LAN cable; PS3 (A) should be connected to the TV

2. On the XMB of PS3 (A), scroll to the Settings menu and select [System Settings] and then [Data Transfer Utility]

3. Follow the instructions on-screen and transfer data

4. After transferring the data, follow the instructions on-screen, and then connect PS3 (B) to the TV to view the XMB

5. If content that was downloaded from PlayStation Store was transferred as part of this operation, you must activate PS3 (B) before you can use the data. Log in to the PS3 system as the user who owns the content, and then select (PlayStation Network) - (Account Management) - (System Activation) to activate the system.

Despite Sony previously stating otherwise, http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-6...ansfer-Utility reports that the Data Transfer Utility for the PlayStation 3 can transfer copy-protected saves from one PS3 system to another, to quote: "Even saved data that is copy-protected can be transferred (moved)."

PS3 to get a PS2 emulator some time next year.

According to PSInsider, the recently discovered PS2 emulator Sony has added won't arrive on the PS3 console until late 2010.

While PS3 Firmware 3.15 added support for Sony's PSP emulator to the PlayStation 3, PS2 fans may want to check out Open PS2 Loader for PS3 until fall of next year.

To quote: "Sony PS2 emulator will probably WON'T be published until end of 2010 (yes, next year) as for this and next year Sony will still supporting all PS formats including PS2.

The PSP emu for PS3 was meant to be connecting PSPgo / PSP-4000 to PS3 via bluetooth and play via DualShock / Sixaxis so PS3 would just transfer the audio and video.

Only 'emulating' parts would be allowing PS3 pad control PSP game but calling it emulating it's really nonsense."

In case someone is interested Battle Fantasia is up on the NA PSN this is a fighter from Aksys, for $20 is a good fighter it has online gameplay, trophies and all that shit, sadly this is the only way you will get it in NA i don't think they will bother with disc version.

btw the game is 2yr old so take it as you will, just don't expect a blazblue or guilty gear
